Know the Harvard hearsay questions. Also, buy the flashcards. Go through each flashcard subject before it is covered in class. The flashcards explain everything more clearly.

Really nice guy, he knows his stuff. Go to class, take notes (he says things for a reason), and you will be fine.

For some reason I compared him to Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. The guy knows what he's talking about, he loves the material (even though it's dry). He's very funny too. However, he has a hard time conveying it to the students (he tries though). You basically have to learn things yourself. Treat the FRCP like your Bible and memorize them.

Well like every law class you will have to teach yourself the class at the end. Upside is he wont browbeat you in class everyday on stupid stuff. Its a course on rules....read the rules, and get a good study aid, and you will do fine

Fili has been teaching for damn near 40 years. His lectures are a bit on the boring side but it is Civil Procedure and he teaches most concepts by way of example. His final consisted of 130 multiple choice/true-false questions of varying difficulty and a multiple part essay that was crystal clear. I liked his class and will take Evid. with him.

I got a B in his class and can honestly say I know practically nothing about evidence. Memorize the Harvard questions and you're almost halfway there.

Tough, boring, and hard grader. I have all A's except for his two classes, and both civ pro 2 and evidence were C+'s. Sometimes I think he just turns in a list of grades and doesnt even crack open the exam you turn in. STAY AWAY!!!

Filly is the man. Many people would rip him for not hazing them into knowing the material enough, but his exam will do that for you. His final had 135 multiple choice, T/F style questions, and a 4 part essay. The 4 part essay could not have been more clear. Filly reads you the material, but it is up to you to master it on your own. Great guy!

This is a fantastic professor. He certainly knows his stuff and has such a gentle, kind way of teaching. He makes three hour evidence classes bearable! A fairly easy grader as well. If you're at MSU Law, you gotta take Fili!

I think he is a "love him / hate him" professor. I think the people who do not like him are the people who need to be spoon-fed rules of law. Filly does not do this. I had him for CivPro I & II as well as Evidence. I would recommend him for sure!

Had to rate this guy since these ratings are so off base. Fili is the man. Sure, he doesn't follow the book as much, but his class is low pressure, it makes first year so much easier to handle. Without Fili, I think first year would have been much harder to deal with. I am going to take every single class he offers.

I had Fili for both Civ. Pro I and II and Evidence. He was mediocre for all. Someone else commented that he mentions Michigan law briefly and makes it seem like you don't need to know it, but then it's on the final. Beware. Pretty easy when he calls on you and doesn't make you feel dumb.

Taught Evidence. His teaching style is very clear. He uses many sayings and catch phrases. His Evidence exam, however, is pulled from bar-type multiple choice questions and is extremely difficult.

He provides alot of practical information. He gives good explantions in a difficult subject. His exam includes 135 multiple choice questions, and an essay with 5 short answers. The multiple choice can be tricky. The first 40 are easy, they are Harvard Hearsay questions. Memorize thoughs. To prepare use emanuel flash cards. They are very helpful.

He packed a lot of material into a very short summer class with ease--mostly by avoiding the socratic method. His exam has tons of hearsay-nonhearsay (suprise...) and multiple choice--it is a bit of an endurance contest! Good prof.

civ pro I was pretty straightforward. civ pro II was a pretty weird test. But it was weird for everybody so who cares. He explains things clearly and is willing to help.
