Comment:
Prof Garik is a very nice guy and is VERY smart and knows a lot about the subject. However, his class is confusing and concepts are never really explained. Instead, students just have to work through experiments and try to figure everything out. He does not seem to know that the students do not understand the material & it needs explaining!

He's really nice and tries to be helpful but is ultimately just confusing. Don't listen in class, read the chapter summaries, do well on your presentations + papers and you'll be fine. The tests aren't that easy but the curves are awesome.

Professor Garik is a good person-He's eccentric and sometimes boring but he honestly is enthusiastic about his subject and wants his students to succeed. He obsesses with physics and mostly his explanations are confusing. Do the textbook problems, even though he doesn't check, and always keep a detailed lab book! Open tests and research papers.

Comment:
NS 101 was a horrid class. Most of the things learned in this class was already learned in high school, so the class itself should be somewhat easy. But Garik lacks the ability to explain concepts; he further confuses us and is not clear in class at all. Txtbook was not used. Nothing learned in class could prepare you for the midterm...

Comment:
Garik's kinda awkward, but he genuinely cares about his students and is always willing to help you outside of class. Can be confusing-ask him to slow down or clarify and he will. Text helps too. Tests are HARD, but papers/presentations boost your grade. SED is unrealistic-when will i teach 3rd graders about quantum physics? Blame SED, not Garik.

garik is an aweful prof. he is hella condecending to students and makes what should be a relatively simple class into a class that requires a 20% curve on each test just because hes incapable of explaining concepts...take ns101/102 with son...hes much better and even uses gariks crap curiculum still...garik made me hate learning entirely

worst class ever. class is boring, garik is confusing, and he makes ideas that you learned in 7th grade impossible to understand. unless you REALLY want to be a teacher, avoid this class at all costs.

he tries hard to make things clear and understandable, but overall, not a good teacher. concepts that are confusing becomes more confusing. textbook does not help. finding internet sites may help to clear some concepts. will have many papers, graded by TA, to help boost grade (if done correctly).

He is a horrible professor. Assignments are confusing and class is BORING. Lectures are long and labs are ridiculously pointless. Nothing you learn in class from him will help you on the midterm and final.

Garik is a good teacher considering what he has to work with. SED tries to put too much into those classes - very difficult and lots of work. Print out the readings and work on the presentations and you'll do fine.

This class has a lot of required work but you do end up really learning the material. It's not an easy class as the school tries to put too much into the class. On the other hand, his tf grades well, the curve is good, and once you understand the material, the class is fun.

this class destroyed my GPA, any interest in science i once had, and generally was a horrible way to start off my day. physics is awful enough on its own, but garik does NOT make it any easier. couldn't get help when i needed it...future NS students, BEWARE

This class is much better than NS 101. The Exams are much easier and he types out all of his notes. As long as you print out the notes, you'll be fine for the exam. Make sure you drink coffee before hand, especially if you have it in the morning.

Garik is an amazing man, but a terrible teacher. His heart is in the right place, but he has difficulty explaining material to students. Basically, since the class is required, just realize that after 2 semesters, you never have to take science again...

The class is so hard. The man is primarily a physicist, so he is not much of a teacher. The class average on the exams is around a 50 or 60%. However, he is always available outside of class. Do not take this class unless you need to.

It's easy to tell that he really cares about the students. I found it iteresting, but it's one of those classes that can go either way. Overall, Garik is a great person and a pretty good professor.
