Such a great prof! Really enjoyed his classes and demonstrations. Definitely liked it more than ASTR310. Midterm and final was not easy but still doable. You can tell he's really enthusiastic about the subject and does a really great job explaining it to students who may not have as much practice w/ math/sciences. Totally recommend this course!

This class was not as easy as everyone claims it is. Fill in the blank notes that are extremely dumbed down and do not prepare one for the exams. The midterm and final were extremely difficult. Tutorials were pointless, and my ta wasn't nice/helpful.

I'm an exchange student from Singapore, so I hardly have any contact with Astronomy material as my home university doesn't offer this subject. But Dr Newbury has been fantastic in delivering his material, being both engaging and humourous. The course doesn't require a textbook, with relatively simple homeworks, tutorials and midterms to boot.

Ok, so we all need a science requirement for some damn reason no one can really make sense of. Take Astronomy with Newbury. Seriously. The great final exam, the entertaining classes, the 80% class average... how can you say no?

Why you should take the course: 1) It's easy 2) It's interesting 3) Newbury makes learning fun! You seriously don't need the textbook, just attend lectures and soak in the awesomeness of a prof that really tries to put the "chool" in "school." Find a nice TA too, (I had Kelsey) because they'll be your go-to person for questions.

One of the funniest profs I've ever had - acutally made me laugh (unlike fake laughs that some sudents make with other profs just to suck up). Very passionate about ASTR and made it what it trully is: most interesting. His teaching is so lively, that it would hard to pass out in this class.

I was never interested in Astronomy but Peter makes everything 'sexy'...his favorite word to use during lecture. Nice guy and good course content...things that are good to know in general.

Peter is amazing. I finally decided to learn Astronomy. Believe it or not, his final exam was the funnest exam I have ever written - connect the dots people. Come to class, read, do the work - it is so easy. There's really not that much to do. Bonus assignment was great!

It is not as easy as people say, but it is not hard to earn over 70% since most of the grade is based on homework and tutorials. Class average was 78%.

03/29/06, don't take your shortcomings out on Newbury. He doesn't control what time his class is. I didn't go to class either, but you can (mostly) fill in the blanks yourself with the book and google. If not, do go to class as the material is pretty technical. He offers bonus, and hw and tutorials are basically free marks. It's an easy course.

This man is hilarious. He makes everything very clear for poor arts students who don't understand math and pretends he's dumb so we don't feel bad. I laugh at least 5 times a class. He is charming and shows us pictures of his kids. I love the class and he is an excellent prof.

Easy Class! Excellent breakdown of course so you can get easy marks from homework and labs. Went too fast on slides. Lets you do bonus work for extra marks. Take the course if ur an arts student, its not too sciencey and you dont need to understand the notes on a deep level. Dont buy the textbook, u dont need to read it.
