You're going to have to read or be a great googler. He demands critical thinking and getting an A is a difficult task. He loves giving out B+'s like they are candy. He'll give feedback, but often you can't tell why the feedback corresponds to the grade. He's a great guy, and you'll definitely learn something.

I think Dr. O'Brien is amazing! I liked him so much I went to Berlin with him for 2 weeks. If you put forth effort you'll probably get a B. He's an odd guy but in a good way. If you show him that you care and you're trying, you'll end up easily in the A- range.

Dr. O'B wants you to think critically, and through his readings and classes, he shows you how to do it. You HAVE to read a lot but those readings are SO useful not only for Poli-Sci, but also for life. He's very helpful if you're lost as he really cares for his students (though he may not seem like it) and wants you to do well.

O'Brien can be a hard grader and doesn't give out A's for much. His material is very interesting though, although can be long winded. He is strange and funny and enjoys getting to know his students. Prepare for class and follow his rules and you'll be fine. If you want an A you will really have to work for it. Overall great and interesting prof.

I took every class he offered while I attended Trinity, he is amazing, but extremely difficult to get an A. POB changed my life and my career goals, I am now working on my Ph.D. in PoliSci. He is brilliant, and his political theory classes are the best.

Dr. O' Brien is really cool and probably the best way to get an easy A at Trinity if you were a debater in high school. He rambles A LOT, but it makes class fun when you can just do whatever you want and chime in whenever needed. He's a little quick to hand out B's when the ideas get a little creative though, especially in European areas.

"Discussion" means him talking the whole time. Easy grader. Would rather take him than any of the other intro professors, aside from Crockett.

Not the greatest, not the worst. Might have just been the content, though. He was very helpful during office hours and had a sense of humor, which was sometimes needed in a class about morality and politics

Class was boring. Take notes on the reading, will help you. Class participation counts for a lot. Not very work intensive until the exam, which is a huge undertaking. Tough grader. Overall, pretty good class.

Dr. O'Brien was very helpful. He really appreciates it when students go into office hours and discuss their assignments with him, as well as just discussing the content from class. Dr. O'Brien can be a little intense sometimes, but he's a great professor and very smart. You should definitely take this class!

Class wasn't the worst, but I did not enjoy myself. Class discussion is huge part of your grade. He often rambles and I get really confused. Taught me nothing about modern politics, just about ancient philosophers. I gave the course my best effort and I still did not make a good grade. I was disappointed. I would recommend avoiding this class.

He was the most interesting and intelligent professor I had at Trinity. A very bright man. He lectures like a preacher! If you try hard enough, if you are good enough, you will get an A..ok, maybe an A-...If you are just ok, you will get a B. He grades fairly because he expects a lot out of Trinity students...which is a compliment to us!

Worst teacher I've had at Trinity. LOTS of work for a lower level class, your entire grade is based on two papers and 10% participation. You bust your ass on papers, try to muddle through his rarely-coherent lectures, give him exactly what he asks for and still get a B. Nothing you think is ever good enough. Ever.

Well, he enjoys lots of references in papers. Final was a paper worth 50% of our grade. I basically got B+ because of my participation grade even though I didn't have more than the 3 allowed absences. Easy B, hard A. I wouldn't recommend him if you are not interested in the subject, class can get monotonous. Nice and funny guy though.

Kinda boring, but not terribly difficult. You will probably get a B of some sort. When I took it, we didn't call Tuesday/Thursdays "T&A Day" for nothing. Funny guy, though.

Class started out so boring, but it does get better. Debates are great, if you get them started, nice guy, hard grade, B's on papers are the status quo. Lots of reading, lots of dull reading. Weird setup for final, but in the end better worth taking than not.

Cool teacher. Assigns a lot of reading, but only asks one question on it the next day, so it's nothing to cry about (and even then, he asks only one person at random). Grades a bit hard, but you can pull a B in the class
