ramsay's a crappy teacher. he's practitioner; his authority as a professor comes from his experience, not the fact that he knows any of the stuff in the textbook, which hypocritically he expects us to know in the exams. suggestion: have students shadow you for a whole year instead of going to classes. we might learn more

Likes to spend a lot of time answering tangential questions, leaving little time for coverage of the central points. If you are organized and read all the cases in advance you can do really well in Ramsay's class. If not you can do really poorly. There seems to be more spread in the grades with Ramsay than with most other profs.

Very approachable. Tries his very best to help you. A lot of real life experience in litigating torts cases. One of the top lawyers on VancouverIsland. There are negatives,however... He tends to ramble which results in him having to cram material later in the year. Also, He also allows too many questions in class, which gets the class behind.

Uncle Pete has one of the top three moustaches in the faculty and, to the benefit of all, gets involved in the social life of the faculty. Easy to talk to and knows his property, even if he gets off track or mired in detail. This isn't Alberta: they don't just give the "QC" away in BC. Exams are fair but exhaustive. Get a good CAN and know it.

This class is really dull. But at least there are guest lecturers. Still, it's hard not to fall asleep and Ramsay marks pretty tough. Take it in 3rd year, your last term in law school if you must.

nice guy as everyone says. but he knows torts about as well as the students who've read the material and linden before class. be prepared to digest the material on your own. he also goes off on tangents easily (and as a result needs to cram several large chapters of the class into the last two weeks). but, he only tests you on things he knows well

Extremely friendly and astonishingly accessible (for a law prof). Beware of highly practical take on subject material. Has little patience for long-winded theory and prefers real-world, pragmatic approach, which is a good thing IMHO.
