Comment:
I have to rate him again because the character limit was not enough for me to emphasize how bad he is. On top of the quizzes, there's a final paper where he provides no rubric, and grading seems to be done by using a random-number generator. Many very capable students received marks in the F to C range. This course is mentally damaging. Beware.

Peter Sephton is without a doubt the worst professor I have taken in my 4 years at Queen's. The difficulty discrepancy between his practice quizzes and actual quizzes is drastic. To make this worse, quiz questions are randomized and they vary highly in the level of difficulty. If you get some of the harder questions, then bye-bye to your mark.

really hard but once I figured it out it made sense. Prof doesn't hold your hand, expects you to do the work. was harder than I thought

You can spend 30+ hrs on the final project but get failing grade (plus, no rubric and he submitted final grades so we didnt have the opp to argue). Then he claims you dont understand the course content, even though you read the textbook, attended class, and had an A+ prior. Dont waste your time stressing in this course, just learn GRETL elsewhere.

This course is very poorly managed and the prof doesn't really care. If you get one question wrong on any of the tests it could sink your entire mark because there are so few questions. I would strongly suggest taking ECON351 or STAT361 or even STAT268/269 instead because they basically cover the same stuff but in a much better way

Probably the most inconsiderate professor I have ever had. He doesn't care about students' needs at all. Like not at all. He's extremely selfish and condescending. He deserves no respect. Fair warning - don't take this professor.

His lectures are useless as he usually has 100 slides per class, and quickly goes through long formulas that he doesnt explain when to use. This class was the most self-taught course I have ever taken, the only way he tells you to learn is to take practice tests, how about actually teaching the material? Doulton basically taught this class.

Very funny professor. He realizes that this is not an interesting course so he makes it as enjoyable as possible. As long as you do the practice tests you will do really well. You don't want to skip class as the slides usually don't make that much sense without context, and the textbook is incredibly dull.

SO understanding of personal circumstances. Always available outside of class for extra help. He knows stats isn't that interesting so he makes an effort to make class more exciting with jokes and funny videos. Study in advance for quizzes! I learned that the hard way.

This is a required breadth course for most non-economics PhDs. Peter does his best to save you from what could easily be a dreadful experience.
