Peter is an amazing professor who is fantastic at what he does. His lectures are incredibly interesting, and he has a sense of humor too. There is a lot of reading to do for him usually, but he does a good job at explaining those texts, as he realizes they can be difficult to understand. He is very kind and calm, you can always talk to him.

Peter is great. Engaging lectures, take-home midterm and gave a final paper instead of exam to alleviate stress. Very empathetic, knowledgeable and, for lack of a better word, chill. He is somewhat colloquial in his lectures and answers questions deftly. He took a dull subject and made it bearable. Thank you!!

peter was great! the class can be quite hard and falling behind on the readings can be a big YIKES, but his lectures are really interesting and he is very engaging in class discussion. he definitely knows his stuff and i really felt like i learned so much by the end of the semester.

Peter was a great prof. The assigned readings are very interesting and he takes the time to explain them as clearly as he can. His teaching is more like a conversation than a lecture; it never feels like he is talking down to you. I will definitely take him again if I can! Recommend.

Peter is a really thoughtful and careful teacher. He tracks on each of his students in the seminar acutely and notices issues that arise in the class. He's a true blue academic, and urges you to get the most out of theorists and ideas. He has great feedback on written assignments, and his in-class work is thoroughdo the readings in-depth.

Awesome teacher! Visual culture was such a refreshing class too, more creative freedom and no final exam. He really is a great prof, take him if you can!

In my opinion, van Wyck likes to teach. He wants his students to not only understand the theory but to, dare I say it, enjoy it. Sure he makes overly obscure references to arcane theorists as he stares dreamily into space, but he really knows how to foster an environment for open learning. I would recommend him to anyone, any day.

He's very smart, but he does let the class redundancy get to a rediculous high in what I can only assume is for some covert social analysis of comms students. The Midterm was seriously wrong, I have an amazing memory and attendence and I still got tricked. I hope semiotics 463 will be just as interesting, only with smarter and fewer people.

Very intelligent man, heard he is pretty nasty as a tutorial leader. Lectures can get kind of dry but he has a lot of information to give. Frustrating that all the TAs do ALL of the teaching and he only sums it up in his lectures. In reality, Van Wyck does dick all except enhance the tutorials.

Increadible prof. Exactly what i was hoping for in a University level prof. Allows for a great deal of discussion. Really challending and pushed me so much. Not an easy prof, but always their to help and i really enjoyed his understandin of the mateiral. GREAT prof.

Wallows in the abstract... lectures are redundant and allows student's class discussion to run wild and become pointless. Hard marker and enjoys abstract, open ended thought. On the plus side, he is very approachable and will help you with assignments.. but they are unclear to begin with. In others word, I would not take him again.
