wow this class is hard. i'm a straight A student and i'm worried about failing. there's only 2 midterms, a final, and 4 problem sets which sounds good but the tests are very hard so if you mess up (which you will!!) then theres not much else to boost your grade. the material isn't bad but mccalman sucks at teaching it. he's hard!!!!!!

His tests are relatively easy, however he does not give midterms exactly like the sample exams. In the midterms he does indeed go over the same concepts listed in the sample midterms, but takes a different approach to the problems / presents problems in a different manner. So dont expect the sample exams to be exact as the actual tests.

NOT an understanding teacher, if you have any excuses for anything, make sure that you have a written document. HW is worth 20%!!! His lectures don't mean anything, just make sure that you do the homework and study on the week of tests. He Doesn't Show up for his own midterms and finals. total ****

Worst teacher I've had at UCSC. Always made mistakes where the students had to correct him, pissed off many students since many of them failed due to his horrid teaching, gives you really hard tests on things he never even discussed.

Definitely the worst lecturer I've had here. He's what I would call a bareback teacher, because he does the absolute minimum to keep his job here. Does not hold review sections, does not update his class webpage, does not correct papers, etc.
