Very interesting lecturer. Very knowledgable and approachable. Takes attendance randomly. 1/3 of grade is a 6-8 pg essay, 1/3 is a 8-10 pg essay, 1/3 is attendance from lecture and discussion. The papers are a lot of work and he assigns a good amount of reading, but I did less than half and got a B+

UCLA is homeschool, but teaches a couple classes at UCI. Loves Hobsbawm. Very biased in views toward socialism; doesn't explain "other side's" views in an unbiased way. Doesn't always know everything he should about what he's teaching.
