Best class ever. He is hard but your writing will improve dramatically. You will never be bored, he is hilarious. Any one who doesn't like him isn't putting enough effort into the class, because he expects alot and hates slackers.

Mr. Kain, is very sarcastic and harsh, but in a funny way. Even through his demeaning comments it is clear that he very much cares about his students. He is brutally honest, he make make you cry, but you will work harder and get better for it. If you want an easy class this is not it, if you want to get what you paid for, this is the right class.

Made me want to cry. Funny once you get use to him or when he's not doing it to you, but do NOT get on his bad side. Pretty helpful and definitely knows what he's doing but scary just the same. If you thrive under tough love he's the guy for you. If not, run.......

HILARIOUS. His class is not only entertaining, but worthwhile too. I've learned so much on how to become a better writer. Specificity! Immediacy! Relationships! Point to a place in the text! Say these key terms, and it'll score you points with him. My writing has improved dramatically. He may say he doesn't care about you, but he truly does.

He is AMAZING for Writing I! He's super funny, gives amazing explanations, and really helps improve your writing. His blackboard site is meticulous, which makes it really easy to know what assignments to do, and the assignments are interesting, fairly easy and definitely relevant to the class. He's definitely harder for Writing II though.

I LOVE this guy. He's an amazing teacher and absolutely hilarious. His class seems to just fly. He's extremely kind and spends hours having individual conferences with each of his students. He may not be an easy A but you'll learn.

He is an AMAZING professor. Hilarious guy, literally has the class in laughing the entire class with his sarcastic jokes. Turns writing into a science and shows you in a methodical way how to write well. Tough but rewarding and fair grader. You will become a better writer with Kain and you'll laugh yourself all the way there!!!

If you plan to slack off, he will tear you apart. He's scary in the beginning, but if you participate and stay engaged,he'll be fine. Hilarious guy in a mean way (picks on slackers) Every class is exciting and you learn something new. Be prepared to work, but to learn A LOT. He cares about your writing. VERY TOUGH- but unbiased-GRADER.

Hilarious guy, talks a mile a minute. I searched his name on Google, and I found out that he used to be a stand-up comic. Even though he is way cool, the courseload is rediculous. In nearly every class something has to be turned in, which can be distracting to other classes, but he is one of the most engaging professors at NYU. You'll learn alot

Moderate amount of work, but if you figure out your idea early on, it will help. Make sure your three papers are good, they are the bulk of your grade. He spells out exactly they way he wants you to write and if you CHECK FOR THESE when you go over your paper, you'll have less of a problem. Your writing will improve for sure if you take his class.

Not an easy class. I hated it the first few weeks, but then I actually saw that I was becoming a better writer. Kain is crazy, but in a good way. He makes fun of everyone so don't be afraid to joke around with him too. Not too many essays, but a lot of writing and drafts.

Professor Kain is a hard grader but other than that every class is such a fun experience. The homework load is definetely doable and if you want a teacher that is going to actually teach you how to be the best writer you can be, go with Kain. The atmosphere in his class is amazing, he is extremely helpful, very funny, fun to be with, & very cool

One of my favorite professors! He will make you write better and he will make fun of you, but it is a relationship built on mutual respect. There is some work involved but none of it is busywork. If you are serious about wanting to write better stay here. Day One he is only trying to scare you.

He is one of the best professors at NYU. He really knows how to help everyone learn how to write. There is some work to do, but very manageable. Dont be afraid - the first day he always tries to scare away the slackers-its part of the act.

Not bad, very good sense of humor. I was a little surprised when I entered his class and found out it was about Avant Garde performances instead of Broadway shows. I was even more surprised when I saw him one day on a Wendy's commercial. Fun times.
