Loved her! She had great stories. You use the book alot. Tests are not bad as long as you go to class. You can get away with missing a few classes. There were journals but they weren't hard. I would recommend her. She is very approachable and made the class what it was. There was a lot of writing but common on this is college.

Professor Heath did a great job at teaching this course!! Although there was lots of note taking, she had many interesting stories and was very into the subject she was teaching which made the class much more enjoyable! I think she was a perfect prof for this course I would recommend her to anyone looking to take 307!

Phyllis is a nice professor. Some of her exam questions can be confusing, and you really need to study for the exams because you only have 3, plus journal questions every week, and one 10 point paper. Be prepared to write THE WHOLE class period. She doesn't put notes, or study guides on blackboard. Go to the website and study the questions.

Phyllis is an amazing teacher! One of my favorites so far at CMU. She knows her stuff and gives a ton of real life examples that help you to relate to the info. She is extremely nice and has a great Southern accent too! Why wouldn't she talk about her accomplishments...i mean come on now, she wrote the book! That's a big deal :]

phyllis is a very nice teacher but gets really annoying when she mentions all of her major accomplishments (like writing a book and working on a second) EVERY DAY. other than that, she'very helpful and always looking for different ways to help out the class. if you go to class everyday you'll be more than fine

She is probably one of the nicest women you will ever meet. She tells a lot of stories. She knows the material, afterall she wrote the book (a fact you won't forget after the millions of times she mentions her next edition) and she makes the information easy to relate to real life. The quite easy too.

What an amazing professor. I loved this class, and Phyllis. She always told stories about personal experiences related to the notes, which made it easier to understand some things. Exams are very easy if you study, and there are three, one-page, reflective papers you need to write, but they're very easy as well. TAKE THIS CLASS!!!!

She tells stories and you tell stories, it's the best. Do the homework and pay attention in class (i'm getting an A- and i don't read except for HW). She's a great and helpful woman, even if it doesn't apply to class, if it's family related, she's there for you!

She's a great professor. She's really clear and you can tell she's a really great parent. She's always eager to hear stories you have, so you always feel comfortable sharing. Definitely buy the book, since she wrote it. If you pay attention and attend the classes, you'll do just fine on the exams.

She's a perfect teacher for this class because she's a BIGTIME child advocate. Her tests aren't too bad because she's very clear, thorough, and offers lots of extra points that will raise your exam scores. Highly recommended. She's probably the best prof. that the CMU Family Studies Dept. has to offer.

Definitely buy the book b/c she wrote it!Therefore her tests are fairly tedious b/c she really wants you to read her book. She has a lot of valuable information that I will remember when I become a parent, but she can be a bit frusterating b/c she can be unclear in her expectations. Worth taking tho
