if you have physical geology and you have him for lab, it is near impossible to get an A. if you have an A in the lecture, the lab will surley ruin that A. very difficult and hard to understand

Dr. Ramana is a smart man, but he just cannot teach the material well. He may be helpful during office hours, but I can say I never went and found out. Just pretty much have to learn the stuff on your own. Good luck to anyone who takes his class.

i think it is safe to say that he is probably the most boring professor i will ever have an MU. his lectures make absolutly no sense, and trying to hear what he says is nearly impossible because he is the most soft-spoken man ever. his tests are not on the material that he covers in class, so you are basically screwed when you take a test.

I have no idea why people find this guy so hard. Only 7 people out of a class of 105 were able to get an A. 90 or above is an A, yet most students failed or got low D's. MU students expect a free ride from profs like Price -- if you can't understand Ramana, go to class and sit up front, or do the unthinkable and ask a question if something isn't clear. He's boring, but the class is easy. You freshmen need to get a clue!

I'm not much into science, so this course was really a struggle for me. I had difficulty understanding the book & couldn't really follow what was going on in class. However, Dr. R was very willing to help me outside of class and by working one-on-one with him I understood things much better (and was able to actually pass the course).

Comment:

Self-deprecating humor most of the time with a warm smile and a desire to help all students. Knew us by name and treated us all with respect, even when it was obvious we had not done the work. Knows his stuff and has a passion for teaching. I will take Dr. Ramana again in a heartbeat. Also, ask him about asbestos and french teachers.
