Great teacher, hard class. Read the book the night before, then go to class, do homework after class. If you know your math, he makes the math even easier. If you don't know your math, you can get by, but it will be an uphill battle. His demos are awesome and fun! DON'T SKIP CLASS! You will lose his easy tricks, and the examples are on the exams.

Professor Chamberlin is a straightforward professor and is always willing to help his students. His demonstrations are relevant and awesome. I highly recommend him for anyone who wishes to learn physics.

This class was by far my most difficult this last semester (topping over Organic chemistry, biology and calc III). His lectures helped very little, but were still mandatory because of CPS. Many of the CPS questions were too difficult, and he ended up having to answer them himself. Tests were near impossible, unless you had taken the class before.

Hard class. Hes better than Fuchs. I took the same class with Fuchs. Chamberlin is not the best, but not the worst. Physics is hard. Good luck. Go to class, do homework. Bother TA's. =)

I also had him for 121. He is a good teacher, this is just a hard class. Very helpful during office hours. Does LOTS of demos to keep class interesting. Curve is HUGE. Tests are very hard, but still manageable. Homework takes a very long time. I would definitely recommend going to all the lectures, missing one makes it much more difficult to follow

He just doesn't have very good teaching skills. I got a 4.0 (the hardest A I've ever earned), but I don't have a clue about the material after passing the class. I think the biggest problem for me was that he RARELY ever talked about units; I could calculate anything he asked for but I didn't have a clue about what units to put on my answer.

People have such a bad attitude coming into this class that I feel like Ralph gets a raw deal in these ratings. It's ELECTRONMAGNETISM.. it's HARD. This tests are alright once you get used to the format (which only takes one). There's a 25%ish curve in the end so (god forbid) put in some effort... it's still just an entry-level course.

OK I got an A- in this class. Having said that, this has to be the hardest class I've ever taken, much harder than differential equations and the like. He just cant teach in a way that we students will learn. I would learn a lot more if my recit teacher jane tsen would've taught the lecture class. Avoid this guy if possible for this class.

He seems nice, but he's kind of crazy. He stops the whole lecture multiple times because two people are talking or becuase someone walked in late or left early. He's pretty harsh on the hw, you have ten tries per question otherwise you get a zero. His tests aren't too bad if you study what he tells you. Plus he grades on a massive curve.

Class quizzes make class mandatory for 10 of the 16 weeks (6 week grades dropped). Tests are very difficult, often discouraging; but he allowed us to write anything we wanted on a 3 by 5 note card to use on the exam. He does useful and fun demonstrations (makes the lab class awfully boring). Class is a challenge (class average of 48%) but curved

Lecture is boring, there really is no point besides the PRS, which are difficult. His examples never help with the HW. You get deducted points for wrong answers on the HW, which is also difficult, only way to get by is with the TA or finding friends. If at all possible take Sankey, it is worth it to rearrange your schedule for him.

Dr. Chamberlin is incapable of conveying concepts clearly and is utterly unwilling to help students. His lectures are sleep-inducing and the only amusement comes when he blows a demonstration (which occurs frequently). The exams are too long and too difficult, with the average hovering around 50% (followed by a massive curve). Avoid at all costs!

Excellent demonstrations, terrible at clarifying anything, a very smug person who seemed to take pleasure in confusing students. Tests were very difficult often requiring several steps just to maneuver it into a solvable problem, impossible to complete in the time given (heavy curve). The homework was difficult, good luck on a decent TA.

Tests are really difficult but he grades on a curve. However, the curve won't play into your grade until the end so you never really kjnow what you have. Mastering physics sucks but it's a lot easier if you get a network of people to consult with.

Ok so I am taking MAT 270 right now along side PHY 121 and I guess you should already have Calculus under your belt for this class. So, I asked Chamberlin if he could just explain exactly what calc I needed to understand and instead of helping me he threatened me with failure. What an ****! Seriously this guy sucks!

Don't take this class at 740 you'll just sleep! He's not a very exciting teacher, the best part are his demonstrations(which are ok). do the hw in a group to keep up your grade, don't do bad on quizzes and hover around the average test scores and you can pull a B

He is very full of himself its almost as if he takes enjoyment in the class doing horrible. The tests questions are nothing like the book(I don't what their talking about). In fact the book problems are sooo much easier than the test and hw problems. He has bad handwritting but there is one plus, He has a HUGE CURVE. Stay around the average scores!
