Only good thing is that she is retiring, hands down the most cynical professor I've ever had. She is rude in person, very demanding, is NOT organized which makes following her overly extensive instructions that much more difficult, but she is a goddess at excel.

A stain on ASU's reputation. Nobody respects her; not her colleagues, assistants, or past students. Grading is arbitrary and unnecessarily difficult. Talks down to students and is rude, demeaning & derogatory. More invested in student shaming than teaching. Refuses to be available for help outside of class. I have zero good things to say about her.

All you have to do is show up to class, she's very boring but you will get over it. Also don't be late or your attendance won't count.

Prof Burrows has little to no industry experience and can hardly be considered a professor. If you expect to learn anything in this class, you are fooling yourself. Her assignments are unnecessarily long and inaccurately reflect the industry standards of work. My only advice - do the work and hope that the grader rolls the dice to your favor.

Clearly intelligent with valuable input, but this is often lost on how hard she is to get along with. Burrows can be patronizing and rude. Assignments are unnecessarily long, and her graders are inconsistent, all with different expectations, but good work tends to produce good grades. Stick with it and you will feel a huge sense of reward.

Her graders were on power trips so grading was relative and sometimes you got lucky, most times not. You have to carefully approach her and she can get condesending very quickly. Some of her advice can be great if you get past the delivery. Rumors are true but you do become a better student after her class. Exams were easy, except final

Dr. Burrows is definitely a special person. Act dumb and like you are really interested in the topic and she will answer all your questions. Work really hard and you may or may not do well. Really depends on how her grader is feeling that day!

Burrows is somebody you wish you could avoid, but you can't, because her classes are required. She has no respect for students. Makes you feel stupid for asking questions. Overall very unpleasant person. Only thing you will learn is how to work hard by experiencing ungodly amounts of pain. Best advise I can give you is to do your work EARLY.

I never thought I would encounter a tough teacher in Arizona State University. I like the idea of hard work, but every assignment/lab report performed in this class, a pre-reflection and post-reflection (a page long each) was included. I see no value in these reflections. I hope this teacher changes because I did not like Dr. Burrows.

Dr. Burrows is a special breed. Teaches you to work hard or suffer failure. The content isn't actually difficult it is paying close attention to instructions that is challenging. Tests are trivia from her lecture slides and lab reports are all about going above and beyond. Class is totally doable if you have a good work ethic and can write well.

Comment:
Burrows is tough, but over hyped. Don't listen to the whiny seniors, she's very clear about what she wants, and reasonable in person. Tests are straight up memorization from her slides, sometimes you'll get lucky, sometimes you won't. The class is time intensive, especially assignments, but nothing is conceptually difficult at all.

Most of what could be said has already been said - you learn from doing assignments, and lectures are quite useless. Grading system consists of many arbitrary rules that makes everything needlessly difficult. Exams test trivia from lecture slides.

Ok, so I took those classes with her: 211, 352, 432. Most likely you won't benefit from her lectures but from her assignments. I really appreciate the fact that she taught what hardwork means. You will research A LOT, in any class u take with her. She is tough, but you will benefit from her assignments (which she does them in purpose). Good luck.

Taking this professor almost singly took away my will to continue with college and higher education altogether. She could have at least tried to be decent in her hw volume, but no, she apparently felt that in order to be a great teacher you have to assign more hw than is humanly possible for a student to complete

Yes, I learned things in this class. No, I did not learn them from her. I did three or four times more work for her class than for anyone else's. She assigned an out-of-print textbook. She gives little to no helpful answers in class. Altogether, a miserable semester. Good luck avoiding her, thoughâ€"any classes she teaches are required.
