The best and caring professor that I had at Carleton until now. Very accommodative. I was very regular to the classes and immensely benefited from his insights into the Analog Electronics.

Comment:

Best prof I've had. Pushes the content on the students - not just a free lecture. Putting in the effort to review notes after lecture will help so much. He does everything he can to make his students succeed - including extra sessions on concepts. Put focus, you'll do well. Treat it like an easy class? Maybe, maybe not. Tests and exams were fair.

Ram is probably the best prof I've had at Carleton. He is the only prof I know that will hold extra PA sessions to help the students with the tests and exam. He truely wants students to do well. If you put the work in, you should be able to do well

He is an amazing teacher. You will definitely learn something if you attend his lectures. His handouts are very clear and comprehensive. Assignments are long and a bit tough but you will survive.

Ram Achar is one of the professor's who really want their students to grab at least a bit if they have taken any course. I am really inspired by this professor and his teaching curriculum. He is amazing and clears all your doubts on the moment. He is higly knowledgeable in high speed designs. Assignments are difficult. Finals are comparitively easy

I am just done with this course, this term. He is the best - made this course one of the best academic experiences that I had. He cares, went out of his way to make sure his students not only understood the material but also well prepared for the exam. Hope I will have an opportunity to take the course with him again.

I would be enjoying Analog Electronics thanks to Prof. Achar's Amazing lectures. They were detailed and clear. He focusses on concepts rather than remaining at the equations level. Don't miss classes if you want to score well in the tests and finals. He took extra effort to engage the students in classes as well as additional review lectures.

Ram knows his stuff. Arguably one of the toughest classes in Electrical/Computer/Eng Phys engineering in 2nd year. He throws a lot of theory at you, so be prepared to copy a lot in class. GO TO PASS! This man is the perfect fit for any electronics course. He knows his elec real well, and does a good job at teaching it. He is very straightforward, gets to the point, fair,and extremely helpful and considerate. Taking this course with Ram gave me hope that there is still some professors at Carleton worthy of their position. I highly recommend him.

I am glad I took his course last term, he is an amazingly inspirational teacher. Although he was fast some times, he made sure that concepts are very clear and provided thorough notes (it compensated for the text book that was very frustrating to read). Best I liked are review sessions for each chapter before the finals, which helped a lot.

I highly recommend Achar. He has a vast knowledge on elec and really cares weather you understand the material he teaches or not. He tries to engage the class by asking questions..sometimes. One advice,DO NOT ever go asking questions w/o having an idea of the prior lectures, or else he'll think you're dumb and always will.I was warned & it worked:)

Comment:

Not very good at teaching, but he does actually want everyone to pass, and it is nice to be asked every Monday, "How was everyone's weekend" or "I hope you all enjoyed your weekend/break." I do suggest attending tutorials though, as they were super-helpful. The concepts themselves aren't difficult, but know them inside and out before the final.
