Kumar is definitely a smart guy. He is very lecture heavy and will call on you for answers even if you don't know., so know your stuff. Tests are decent and definitely come from material learned in class. Definitely have to study, but nothing too crazy. Group project isn't too bad, just make sure you have a good group like I did. Overall, solid!

Comment:

Kumar should be your last resort for Data and Information Management. The class was 70% tests and they were all extremely difficult. Group project is a big portion of the final grade as well. Kumar can give everyone a bad grade on an assignment, but the bad part is he never gives any feedback. Unless you are an MIS major, avoid this class.

Kumar should definitely be your last and I mean LAST choice as a professor. Kumar is very hard to understand with his thick India accent. He is a very useless professor, you could study the powerpoints online and read from the book and do just as good on the tests if you sat front row and listened to every word he said. Avoid!

Dr.Kumar is great professor! Test, He Specifically Tells You What to Study. Proj 1&2 are warm up baby projects get a good grade(EASY STUFF). Project 3,4,5 Needs thought and Effort "Nothing to Crazy Though"(BTW PICK A GOOD GROUP..NO REALLY ;). Pay Attention to Lectures & ask questions. Project 3 is on Test 2 :)They don't give Kumar Credit on here

I had high hopes for this course, but it was a dud. We hardly spent much time on project management. The focus of the course was too much on IT and outsourcing. His grading methodology was very odd and caused quite a bit of debate. I would not recommend him.

INFO3130 Very boring class, but you must attend because he does take attendance. Your best bet is to upload the powerpt. slides and study the book chapters (he likes to test little details), not very helpful in clarifying/ explaining final grade. If group members don't do work on projects, it will affect your grade. Overall, boring, useless class.

Very thick accent & speaks in a monotone. I could not pay attention to him and the book is like reading a different language. Tests are hard and class requires lots of busy work. Attendance is mandatory but attending is pointless. First class I have EVER failed.

Boring! You must read the textbook! Lectures in class are helpful if you can restrain from day dreaming and understand what he's saying. He is HORRIBLE at explaining what he requires for you to do for the projects. He lives off class participation.

The class itself is not the easiest. You have 5 projects. Project 1 and 2 is rather easy but plan on spending lots of time on Projects 3, 4, and 5. Make sure you start early. Make sure you have a good group. It's no fun when you have to do the work all by yourself...You can't really study for his test. Overall, it's not a bad class...

great teacher, very helpful, explains really good, and awlays gives more than 1 example on every new material. Tests straight forward from the textbook, 2easy presentation for 5 min MAX, and one excel project thats due at the end of the semester

You have 5 projects in this course. Plan to spend weekends in the lab. The tests cover 5 or 6 chapters. They're almost impossible to study for and he is VERY unclear about where your focus should be. If you must have this course be very detail oriented on the projects. Put in lots of time. The tests are all about luck.

In terms of the grading, this class is very subjective. No matter how much time you put into the projects, your grade will be basic. the same. Concentrate on the tests because this is the only part of the class where you have some control and this is also limited because it is mostly a written exam

One of the worst instructors in the business school. Tells you what is on the test, but is too general (chapt x, important). He is not clear on project requirements, nor the grading of said projects. In general, he doesn't seem to connect with the class, and students suffer because of it.

Kumar is great professor! Have fun in this class. I learned a lot. Exams are easy if you study. Dont bother with the practice exams from the web - no helpful at all. He tells you what pages from textbook to study.
