This was hands down one of my hardest courses at the AC and I really didn't enjoy the material. Dr O really knows his stuff and is super funny (take the course just for him, it'll be worth it), but his tests are really hard. He also doesn't make any notes available outside of class, so attendance is definitely NECESSARY.

Dr. O is the best! His course is reasonably difficult for an entry level course but if you attend class and take notes, you'll pass with no problem. He tells stories during class too which really lightens the mood and makes time pass quickly. I will definitely take courses with him as the professor in the future.

He's pretty funny, though has dry humour. Tests are tough only if you don't try or take the course seriously. Take good notes as he doesn't post any or give assignments. Pay attention and study well, then the tests are fine. He'll give you hints for what's going to be on tests, so make note! Make use of labs to understand the material better.

By far one of my favorite teachers for my first year. Loves to tell stories but it can be dry humor at points. Attend all lectures because he ONLY lectures. No outside class work except labs which are entirely based on your class notes.

Amazing professor. He's absolutely hilarious and loves what he teaches. Yes, some of it is EXTREMELY dry (especially 2nd semester), but he does his best to make it interesting. Tests are straight forward, but MC exam is difficult. Lab quizzes are usually extremely easy. Only negative is that he strictly lectures, so you have to take good notes!

Good prof, awesome stories. Some of it is a bit dry and it can be easy to day-dream or dose off during lectures. He does not provide power points with notes, you just listen and write. Tests are tough, labs are easy. Dr Olsen is very likeable and loves biology and that comes across in his teaching.

I took four courses from Randy while at the NSAC. He is one of my greatest role models. I believe he is the best professor at the NSAC by a landslide! He also encouraged me to pursue graduate studies, and I'm not regretting the decision to listen to him. I hope to take over his position after he retires! Live long and prosper Dr. A. Randall Olson!

What can I say.. I have had all his classes, B100 was my first and that was way back, I also took his structural botany, a hard course but enjoyable to say the least! He is a laugh riot! I really wish he would teach more courses I would take them just for fun! He is without a doubt the best prof at the AC

Best Professor ever! Hilarious, fun, fair. Test and exam questions come directly from material covered in class, textbook diagrams and explanations also helpful. Take good notes, show respect. So far, my favorite classes were his! Labs a little silly at times though. I would have liked more hands-on stuff NOT involving paper cutouts.

Dr. O is great! Best prof the AC has. His lectures are very useful and he makes the text for the course very useful as well. He is very helpful, and is great for talking to one on one outside of class. You could not ask for a better professor than Dr. O.
