He is the reason I have s teaching style. Took him as a freshman and never forgot him. We argued points of view like cat and dog but I got an A. We respected each other. Too bad others now cannot learn from him. RIP.

Prof. Reyes passed away Dec 27, 2007. He was a great and inspirational instructor. It is unfortunate for those who will not be able to take any of his classes, but for those who did, they know what a wondeful learning experience it truly was.

Very Good Professor, his lectures were very interesting, although his tests were a little hard. They were all essay questions. If you do the reading they are not too hard. Overall a good class.

Loved the lectures and material, but if you are a non-spanish speaking student, you will have troubles with this class. Many of the names are difficult to understand, so a lot of time is needed looking them up in the books. Tests are tough at first, but then you get used to what he is looking for. I did end up getting an A due to his generousity

Ok class. Tests are essay tests and are hard. Need to read all 5 books and use great detail on the test or you will do poorly. Fun and interesting lectures. Ray is a good guy. He does skip around a lot though. Need to take detailed notes and go to class. If you do this you will a least get a C.

Not clear on what he wants to see on the exams, so I will tell you...use lots of detail and explinations. Does not lecture on the books persay, just adds in his own thing her and ther and does not want to see that on essay tests. I am not a lazy student and found this class difficult.

Very little time spent on the reading, odd for a class on literature. Most of the class time is spent hearing the same stories of his life. Good for those that don't speak spanish since more than 1/2 the reading is in Spanish, but no language prereq.

The best Chican@ studies professor at CSUF. If you want an easy A then do not take the class. But if you want to learn about ancient Mexican culture take him. Those students who criticize Reyes are lazy and just do not care about learning.

The best professor I took. Most of these lazy students who wrote negative info. about him thought it was going to be an easy A. Very informative and you do have to read four small books but it is interesting. Learn spanish since we live in a spanish state

He's not hard. He's just not very clear on what he expects from you. Interesting lectures and ideas. Tells too many jokes in Spanish, though. Kind of makes non-spanish speakers feel like outsiders. Exams--fairly easy. Focus on questions he passes out
