Dr. Kettel is a very nice man but his class is absolutely pointless. He is just one of many who has an attendance policy. My belief is that attendance policies are only used when the class is not worth attending! I was frustrated and bored in the class - it could have been so much more.

Dr. Kettel is without a doubt the best teacher I have ever had. He is intelligent, approachable, kind, easy to understand, SO interesting, passionate, funny, and a positive person! Please take this class...if you are not already, he will make you an avid and interested reader! Dr. Kettel has wonderful ideas for teaching literature in your class!

I highly recommend this professor. He is very down to earth, and loves teaching. Hes a stickler when it comes to grammar and punctuation. He likes giving busy work. His tests are straight forward.

Dr. Kettel is a real nice guy with a friendly sense of humor. But don't get the wrong idea -- this isn't a blowoff class but you'll get a good grade if you do the work. You have to read 12 books (yes, read, you will be quizzed on details later) as well as weekly journal reflections, 2 in-class essays, and a take-home final project.

First of all his last name is Kettel not Kettle. He make reading books a joy. Great teacher. I never knew the variety of childrens books and their purpose until I attended hid class. You'd walk out of this class wanting to read every book on his list. I enjoyed going there everytime. Never boring. You'll love it.

overall nice prof.Grading okay,a little unfair,based on little,unimportant details of the books we read.He makes every kid book sound like the greatest thing ever,but does not teach to be critical in the least.Learning from other students,kids books NEED critical thinking for us to choose wisely.
