Caring professor that will give out of class assistance if requested. Gotta get over his beard. Has a lot of wisdom and compassion for his students if they seek it out. Classes give a unique perspective on topics, yes academic, some say liberal. Knows his stuff and will challenge your beliefs by pointing out discrepancies in sacred texts

Comment:

Bible and the Third World was a very boring class. This was not the only opinion in the class, but it seemed a widely held one. The course description was a little misleading; most of the time is spent on non-Western biblical scholars as opposed to the common reader from the Third World. Person is a cool guy, but don't take this class.

as previously said, he leads a very liberal religion department. if you're conservative in your study, be prepared to bite your tongue a lot. a little arrogant about his degrees at times but is otherwise nice. if you have a clue what you're talking about, he grades the essay tests really easy. final is identical. HUGE BEARD!

he's liberal on how he teaches the Bible, if that doesn't bother you then you shouldn't have a problem. if you have an slight familiarity with the Bible you should be okay. the quizzes are really easy. i got 10/10 on every one. he's beardful.

Class is very interesting, daily HW, Group Project is a pain...And whatever you have heard about the Prophets test it is not the hardest...the final is...The teacher is sort of clear on what he expects you to know, but I highly suggest that you take daily notes in the class...he makes the class fun on his biblical comments

I've enjoyed both of the classes I've taken with him. They are very entertaing. The only thing I find difficult are the projects. And if you ask for help is is willing to steer you in the right direction. Overall a very good teacher.

he was pretty interesting to listen to most of the time, but he definitely screwed our group over on our group project. we spent 4 weeks doing it and people who we saw at the library who were doing the paper the night before got a higher grade than our group did he didnt give an explanation either..
