I didnt like the topic of the class & I feel the same way after taking the class; she doesnt look at drafts which sucks and the lectures become useless after the midterm b/c we dont get tested. The final wont affect your grade at all & shes extremely picky with citations.

This class had a thesis, which in and of itself isn't good. I had a disagreement with her about her thesis and she held it against me for the rest of the semester, inevitably affecting my grade a great deal. I felt as though I couldn't disagree with her in class and couldn't approach her about this because of potential backlash. Overall very bad

Prof. Freer is dynamic, thought-provoking, challenging and an objective teacher. The only improvement I suggest is that she publish more work consistently.

Professor Freer knows her stuff, and her class reflects this. It's true, she can be intimidating at first but once you get to know her, she's a really nice person. She is a tough grader but I felt that it was fair. I reccomend her if you're ready to learn and be challenged.

Attention frosh, I had to take this for CSP. Please avoid or get out if possible. She favored UEPI majors and for those of us who had never taken something like this was extremely harsh. I was on the borderline to a B and talked with her, she dropped my grade lower saying that asking her to change it showed I hadn't learned anything. AVOID!

A smart woman, but I get the feeling she feels she needs to prove herself to everybody. She speaks really loudly without pausing to breath and sometimes I think she may pass out during lecture. Other than that, her class not very interesting and she assigned a lot of work, but she was a fair grader.

Yes, Professor Freer was intimidating, but she was also an amazing professor. She is very intelligent and is also a great person to get to know. She is not biased against white people (she is half white), she is just very aware of the social injustices that occur in society. Take a class with her if you're ready for a challenge! Can you handle it?!

I have great respect for Prof. Freer. She lead a ferocious teaching style during the summer session at MSI. She graded her papers thoroughly and prepared me well for college writing. It was an honor to be one of her students.

Prof. Freer can be intimidating but she's extremely intelligent and willing to help if you ask. You also have to be willing to make sure you understand her comments/suggestions if she's reading over a paper and expect to be graded hard on papers, but DO NOT let this stop you from taking the class.

Although Freer discusses non-progressive racial theory only in passing or through refutation, she still imparts a wealth of knowledge and a new way of viewing race relations upon students.

Smile, keep your mouth shut, and don't challenge her rantings = A. Honest disagreement, intellectual rigor and use of evidence will sink your grade. Personal politics, not education and the First Ammendment, is everything in this class.
