Class description seemed interesting, turned out to be boring and lifeless. She would go on and on and I still don't know what to make of this class or what the point of it even was. Unless you're an ISF major don't take it. It sucks the life out of you and isn't even interesting or fun. AT ALL! Her GSI actually answered emails tho, a plus I guess.

Summarizes key events of the world through ideas of modern thinkers well. Unclear of what her own ideas about solutions to problems in society are.

Avoid avoid avoid - if you need this class, take it with Wren or Bhandari. Ms. Holub is brilliant and kind, but her class has been highly disorganized since the beginning of the semester. Students rarely know what her expectations are, and her response to questions is often "well it's easy to understand". Also, too much material for 1 semester.

This lady is not the best or even close to the cream at the top. She goes on these rants that really have nothing to do with the reading or the assignments and then states that what she said 'is really easy to understand'. Not entirely organized at all, best of luck to those who have to take her, boring lectures.

This woman rocks my world. She is knowledgeable beyond belief and very helpful. She challenges you to think critically, which is why some people have a hard time in her course, I suppose. You need to pay attention, and think for yourself. You can really learn a lot in this class. I took this class as an elective and really loved it. She's grea

Her lectures are incredibly boring. She rambles on and on and talks about useless things sometimes. Hard to understand her. Nice lady, though. But really painful to sit through her lectures.

I love this woman. She is brilliant, engaging and very nice. I've been to her office hours many times and she is completely approachable and student friendly. She is very passionate about her research interests. Some people don't like her teaching style because it doesn't hold your hand. You have to pay attention in lecture.

I am a senior, and I can say without qualification that this is the most boring, pointless class I have ever taken. I am an ISF major, and yet I had no clue had she was talking about half the time. To top it all off, the tests have nothing to do with the reading or lectures. You can't even get a good sound sleep because she might call on you.

She's very nice, and she's a knowledgeable and dedicated professor who tries to get to know everyone in her class. Has a disturbing tendency to catch you off guard by calling on you and then asking vague questions like,"what are you thinking?" But a good class overall that changed the way I think about the evolution of society alongside technology.

prof was crazy at first, bc loves to teach about what she is interested in, but once you get used to her teaching style, lectures get a lot more fun and entertaining. she is friendly and approachable, and knows a LOT, but you have to start the conversation. tests were pretty easy , but not on lecture, more on readings.

Amazing, brilliant, incredibly dynamic lecturer with voluminous knowledge of European history, Marx, economics, feminist theories, technology, Muslim diaspora, and much more. Not for dummies. Acclaimed author on Gramsci, fluent in multiple languages...and great legs.

Lectures were the most horrid, unstructured things on earth. Plays favorites, jumps from topic to topic. Never knew what was going to be on each test, or what the hell the reading was about.

Super intelligent instructor, fun to listen to, colorful person and a wealth of knowledge She gives abundant advise to students if you take the initiative. She is passionate and gets excited with her topics. It's a students responsibility to be open-minded, and have a genuine interest in the subject matter. If you had trouble during lecture with her, I can honestly say that you are not seeing the big picture, sit back and relax, enjoy!

the class Society, Technology, & Society is highly informative regarding the transformations of capitalist development. it takes a while to get used to her freeflowing style, but once she gets going (esp. w/her lecture handouts) the class shines. Also, she makes an effort to get to know all her students, and is very reasonable w/her grading.

I love profesor Holub. I found a lot of her students to be pompous and think they are smarter than they really are... hence the bad comments. Her passion is evident in her research. If u want to learn something specific must be done by YOU.

Horrible teacher, doesn't seem to know much. Reiterates vague concepts. Easy to get a good grade, just work in groups and memorize for the midterm. Great class to boost your GPA, not worth for anything else. You won't learn one new thing.

At first I was interested in the class, but now I dislike it. Holub is extremely difficult in that she "teaches" as though the class is full of history buffs. She is unclear & doesn't know how to effectively communicate an idea. The material could be interesting, but with her teaching it, its not.
