Assigns homework every week, but it is easy. She is good at accommodating to students schedules. The only negative is she does not give partial credit on certain sections of the tests, so one mistake and -5. She is lenient with attendance and uses UD Capture which is helpful if you miss a class or are late. Overall a great teacher who will help you

Dong Laoshi is an absolutely amazing teacher that cares very much about her students succeeding. Business Chinese was an incredibly hard class but she took it step by step and was very helpful during office hours and offers extra credit in addition to extra practice materials. If you are struggling she is more than happy to help. Highly recommend.

Chinese is very hard but with her class structure even if you do bad in the exams you can still get a good grade. Try to get a language partner to check homework before heading it, prepare for the quizzes on the vocab every week and don't skip and you will do well, she is very nice.

She's really knowledgeable because she's actually from china and grew up there. She's always willing to accommodate for you in the case of a scheduling thing and updates her schedule every two weeks to keep things moving. She's a fairly hard grader and expect work but its all in preparation for the tests that she gives that she prepares you for.

She is a great teacher for a hard language. She always wants to know that she is being as thorough as possible. She creates a new syllabus every two weeks and sticks to it pretty closely and that's a super helpful resource. I recommend her if you have no Chinese background like I did

Dong Laoshi is very straight forward about what she expects, so stick to the syllabus for homework and tests and quizzes. However she will tailor the assignments to your class, so if everyone is struggling she will adjust things. Frequent tests and quizzes though and the mandatory Speech Contest was a pain in the butt.

Tough but amazing professor. Gives lots of homework and quizzes, not necessarily hard but requires time and effort. You'll definitely learn a lot from her though if you show up to class and do the assignments. All things considered, a very good prof, highly recommended, esp. if you are a Chinese major or otherwise strongly interested in Chinese.

Dong-laoshi is a wonderful professor and you will learn a lot in this class. However, if you're taking Chinese out of interest rather than for your major, I would NOT recommend this class. Homework is extremely time-consuming (but helpful), and you will sometimes have two or three quizzes/tests a week. It's hard to balance this class with others.

Very good professor. Extremely reserved and can seem intimidating. She rarely cracks a smile but she's really very friendly and helpful (especially one-on-one). She really cares about your success. Class is difficult, you have to work. Seems very upset when the class is doing badly. She is also strikingly attractive, almost distractingly so.

She's an excellent professor who really wants her students to do well. She seems a little tough at first, but as long as you're a good student and try your best, you will do well in the class. There are sometimes chances for extra credit but not often. I'd highly recommend Dong Laoshi.

Prof. Dong is a great teacher. She starts out easy but immediately incorporates Chinese into the class. Towards the middle and end, the whole class is essentially in Chinese. Keep up with the work, memorize the characters, practice tones, and understand how sentence structure works. As a winter class it is alot of work. study hard, you'll do well.

She likes to spend the classes talking and asking everyone questions in Chinese. Its a really effective and interactive way to learn, but if the class is early it can be a little rough some mornings.

Three quarters of Chinese 107 has Chinese people, triple language majors, and other people who are gifted at new language acquisition. If you are in the other fourth, you can expect a hard time and little sympathy from her. She can be moody in person. Technically I probably failed her course, but she passed me?.after I begged her.

Dong Laoshi is wonderful. I've learned so much in just this one semester. She's very nice and helpful, and answers all your questions (no matter how repetitive). Be sure to keep up with the vocab, and practice out-of-class, and you'll do well.
