Rhoda is an amazing woman and she definitely knows her stuff. She's always accessible during her office hours and I would recommend taking papers there for editing. She gives very constructive criticism on papers, but I would say that I got a B as my midterm grade and I'm not sure why it wasn't an A. Definitely speak up during class and read!

Rhoda is a stunning person all around. She is a literary genius, and will make you grow as a reader, writer, and all around person. She is possibly the hardest grader I have ever had, but you take away so much more from her classes, anyways. She is always willing to help, and every word she says is valuable- she will teach if you want to learn!

Extremely difficult prof! It's nearly impossible to get an A from her, but she is brilliant and extremely helpful. If you take each of your papers to her office hours and the writing corner and spend a long time on each one you will be okay. She tells you exactly what's on the exam.

awesome lady! her class is incredibly difficult (don't take ANY of her assignments lightly, it'll be a mistake) but it's well worth it. you'll learn a lot and have a blast, although if you want an a you'll have to work very very very hard for it.

Hardest Professor I have ever encountered in my life!!! Avoid her class at all costs. Much hard work and many tears went into her class and I still got a C+. Her discussions are interesting and I learned a lot, but if you want to save your GPA DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT take her class!

I thought I was going to drop this class because it was so hard - but I'm glad I stuck with it - I learned so much! Rhoda will make you work, but you're going to come out of the class a better writer. Never before have I been so proud of a B+! If you are seriously interested in becoming a better writer and analyist, take a class with Rhoda.

This class was the hardest class I have ever taken in my life! Professor Janzen is a brilliant and interesting woman, but she grades very harsh. Many tears and sleepless nights went into this class. I worked my butt off and only got a C+.

She is by far my favorite Professor at Hope. She is extremely hard but makes you want to work for her. She has some hysterical stories to share and always keeps you interested. Go out of your way to take her class. She can make anyone love English.
