Cohen is a cool and fun guy but I found his lecture kinda boring and monotone. He wasn't an amazing lecturer but his tests were straightforward and easy.

Cohen's a really great dude. His lectures were much more interesting than the ones I encountered in MMW 11, and his midterm was incredibly easy. You have to attend lecture to understand the concepts and there's a lot of reading, but in lecture he goes over the most important aspects of the reading, so you really don't have to do it.

Comment:

Cohen definitely knows what he is talking about and gets into the material, however, he gives no feedback on essays which had no clear grading criteria to begin with which made the grades feel very biased. It seemed that unless your essays were spewing spirituality he would grade harshly.

We had to read a book for each religion within a week but they were mostly interesting or books you already heard of. We had to write a personal response to every religion. He's super chill and cares more about your education than about grades. The lectures could sometimes get a little boring but they are usually pretty interesting.

Cohen is one of my favorite professors I've had. He is a gifted lecturer who is extremely passionate about his subject. I wish he was teaching MMW13, because I would take him again no doubt

Cohen was a pretty good MMW teacher. He was not boring, which is helpful for students not interested in the subject. The Midterm and final were not bad and could be pretty easy depending on the person. It just really depends what TA you have to grade your essays. Some can be pretty picky with what they want.

His tests were fair, the midterm was easy. His lectures were usually pretty entertaining and you can tell that he's passionate about what he teaches. He seemed like an interesting guy, and I think the class went smoothly. Just MMW12 in general is kind of irritating.

Hardest MMW out of all the MMW series, but doesn't mean teacher sucks. Looking back after finishing all MMWs, Cohen is pretty easy/cool. If you don't like his views on religion, well you probably didn't go to his last lecture which explains everything. TA decides your grade, tests are easy, I highly recommend him.

Cohen is awesome :] he's really nice and would love to help out people. although his lectures are quite boring, but it's okay. his tests are extremely easy. however, its the essays that screw you up. watch out for MLAs! those stuff will haunt you FOR LIFE. he's cool though, highly recommended :]

Cohen's class was neither easy nor hard, but one thing's for sure, it wasn't graded fairly. First impressions may lead you to think that he is a professor that teaches because he has a passion for it. However, he says one thing and believes another. He holds very biased views towards religion. I wouldn't recommend him if you want to learn something

Professor Cohen is a pretty awesome teacher...he's super chill and also funny. I didn't go to a lot of the lectures or read much of the assigned stuff and I still got a B. The essays are what really count for your grade and to get good grades on them you have to use your imagination. The final was only 25% of the grade and was ridiculously easy

I learned a lot about Buddhism by taking this class and it was pretty interesting. Creativity was necessary to do well on the essays. Final was pretty hard. Make sure you do all the reading and you'll be fine. I recommend this class or professor.
