Class consisted mostly of discussion, which you were graded on leading twice in the semester. Everyone else took notes and occasionally commented. There is a lot of reading assigned, but you could probably get a good grade just from the lecture. Tests were essays on a list of possible topics, and the lowest test score was dropped.

Took the WW1 class. Class consists mostly of discussion. A few students volunteer to lead the discussion on that topic. They are graded on how well they know their stuff. Everyone else takes notes or can join in the discussion. He has strict rules for taking the 2 essay tests, but only the highest test score is counted. Has dry sense of humor.

Professor Cooper is one of the best history teachers. He's well-read and knows what he's talking about. Quite a bit of reading but not terrible. Participate in class and you'll do fine. He can be blunt with students so know what your talking about when u raise your hand. He's a good teacher and and enjoys class time with his students.

I do not recommend. U come to class, watch the movies, have 10 - 15 minutes to discuss about the movie. The midterms are not related to the movies, but the final is focus 50% on the movies. You have to remember every thing, I mean any things in the movies. U have to study more than other class if U want to get a B or above. DO NOT RECOMMEND

Cooper is extremely knowledgeable on the Civil War and Reconstruction. You need to take part in two reading discussions and better read all the material even when it is not your turn. Two midterms and drop your lowest. Final is like the midterms- he gives you the questions in advance and will put three on the test and you answer one. write fluent !

60% of your grade is based on class participation, 2 of which you have to sign up for. 20% based on your exams (5) and the other 20% on your final. He do however drop the lowest score. He expects you to read the materials thoroughly prior to attending class and his exams are very detailed oriented. Expect to know your stuff.

He talks very low and even when you sit in the front, you still can't hear him cuz he's mumbling. He grades pretty hard, even though he mentions that we don't have to evaluate on the midterms (which we have to anyways). Gave me a 0 (zero) for not listing or writing what the topics were about even though I wrote about them.

He's really monotone sometimes but then he'll surprise you and be funny. He's an adorable old man :) who looooooves history. There's lots of class participation. He'll assign some people a chapter and they'll be the ones to discuss it in class. You have to do 2 of those and then there are 2 essay exams! Just make sure you keep up on reading!

Very interesting lecturer-keeps the class involved. Inspired me to make "history" my minor. Had no idea there was so much to know about WWI. Can't wait to experience WWII next Fall. Tests were difficult ... you must be prepared. He gives an excellent prep sheet for tests.

The hardest professor I had last year. If you had a discussion for a chapter in class you need to know your stuff forwards and backwards. Just read it twice and you should be good. His MT and Final are tough if you dont answer the question correctly. To get an B organize it like an instructional manual. Be clear and provide examples lots ofEXAMPLEs

Professor Cooper is awesome. He demands a lot from you, lots of reading, and both midterms and final are in-class essays. He throws the lowest midterm out, so that's helpful. His lectures are candid and entertaining and he is VERY knowledgeable, so be prepared when making comments in class. Tougher grader than most, but that's not necessarily bad.

Cooper can make you feel very small, especially if you ask him a question he does not like. Classes were incredibly boring and he was very unclear as to what he wanted from you. Is a very tough grader. I do not recommend.

Really cool guy. US History isn't my cup of tea but he made it interesting. Provides fun facts that few know about. Three quizzes in A SMALL BLUBK and ink, lol. Goes over possible essay questions so you know exactly what to write. Beware you dont write exactly what he says...he will see it and grade u lower. reading is alot but not mandetory

Good teacher and very enthusiastic about history. If you are going to take this class, be ready to read 20-30 pages a night of the textbook. Also the tests are essay tests, two regular and one final. 20% of your grade is a class discussion and he will ask you and other students questions about the chapter. If you do the reading you should be fine

Professor Cooper is awesome. He ran the course like a seminar, making individuals prep for questions they would respond to in class. He's got a great sense of humor and likes to add contemporary political commentary into historical discussion. Willing to work with students to make sure they've got their facts straight.
