The quizzes are very hard and test on very specific details rather than concepts (ex: what is the name of the horse in the 10 minute video we watched on the second day of class). He himself is funny and the class is interesting, but if you are looking for an easy A gen ed I would not recommend this class at all.

For a GE there is way too much work required to get a good grade. The readings are long and dry, and the test questions are on the smallest details from readings. There is a quizlet that has the test questions on it I found by the third quiz and did very well. Overall would not recommend this class for an easy GE

Professor Green is interesting to listen to, but he tends to ramble and go on weird tangents. All you really have to do to pass the class is show up and sign the attendance sheet and do the discussion posts online. The quizzes aren't hard, they are just random stuff from his lectures. There are flash cards of the questions he asks on studyblue

Really nice and intelligent guy. A cautious academic, which is refreshing for an English prof. Lectures sometimes ramble/get way off topic, but only because he's so interested in the subject. Liberal attendance policy, but don't be fooled: he wants you to write about the things discussed in class in essays and on exams.

Comment:
The specificity of the test questions is daunting at first, but if you make flash cards for every person, place, document and artifact you'll be fine. No writing or historical thought is required. Mandatory lectures consist of Dr. Green reading the assigned primary sources aloud, occasionally with commentary. He is a very nice fellow.

This GEC requires an IMMENSE amount of work/reading. The tests Q's (there are tests and a final) are RANDOM and minute details from the material in class and the book. I thought this class would be interesting, but it turned out to be quite demanding and is now lowering my GPA significantly. I do not recommend.

Take this if you need a GEC. It was very interesting and class was actually easy to pay attention to. Questions are somewhat random but for the most part if you read the stories and notes you will get an A no problem.

Richard and the material itself were both verrryy interesting. I enjoyed coming to class, and attendance was taken for points. Only complaint were the exams - grade was made up of 3 tests and a final, and his questions are VERY random and detailed. you must pay TONS of attention to minute details, but overall this class was a great GEC.

Great teacher. Very helpful and listens to his students. My only complaint is that the material we studied was a bit dull, so it in turn made him seem dull. No biggie, as long as you show up and take notes you'll get a decent grade.

Dr. Green was very interesting. He is an older English gentleman with such a keen sense of humor that makes for a great learning environment. He listens very well to others and maintains a positive attitude toward everyone he meets or teaches. I would recommend Dr. Green to anyone who likes professors with a great sense of humor and cheerfulness.

Really cool. Sometimes it was difficult to know what to take notes on. He rambled at times but was funny and entertaining. Great movies were shown in class. Fun way to get your "culture and ideas" credits out of the way.

Prof. Green is a delightful old man who inspires me to want to learn more about traditional ballads. However, he seems to lose his train of thought during lecture and as a result you have no idea what is going to be on the final. He only has a few grades in the class so it's pretty easy. Make sure to keep up with readings and you should be okay.

Excellent discourse and easygoing atmosphere. Green excels at letting students lead the discussion where it may go, but equally good at leading discussion where it has to. Not a linear class model. Fair essay grader. Exams are not difficult, albeit in class and with essay portions.
