HANDS DOWN THE BEST PROFESSOR FOR MATH IVE EVER HAD! he seriously cares about his students and his humor is fun if you play along. (I heckle him in every class and its always fun) Honestly I cried when I had him for 119 the first week. He made the first week hard to weed out the weak ones. He will ALWAYS help you outside class and tutor you.

expect alot of homework. he doesnt post anything online so youll have to go to his office hours to see your grade which most of the time is at 7am. NO study guide, no notes to follow, no additional help to prepare over all for exams your practically on your own for everything.

He's clearly very knowledgable but because of this, he skips over important concepts that contribute to the following steps assuming we already know them. His lectures aren't structured in an understandable way, I find myself on youtube teaching myself to finish hw assignments. Doesn't post anything online (grades) but is available outside of class

Genuine person but not structured at all as a professor. His notes are very difficult to follow and he does not provide good study materials for the exams. He does not post his grades online so be prepared for frequent office hour visits. I don't recommend him as a professor if math is a difficult subject for you. Highly recommend a tutor.

Dr. Rose is a tough professor. You start off really fast and don't slow down. But what he doesn't tell you is that he goes quickly to make sure you get through the material. My friends that took different professors ended the semester 5 sections to an entire chapter behind us. He tries to scare you but playing along with his weird humor is fun.

Rose is my favorite mathematics teacher here at Chico. I really like how he goes over homework the next day to make sure you understand the material as well as give his own exams rather than the common exams. that way you know what you'll be tested on. If he was teaching calc II next semester I would without a doubt be signing up for it.

Comment:

Rose is one of the most challenging teachers I've had. He assigns required homework most days that takes a good several hours, then spends the following lecture reviewing problems we didn't understand, which is usually a lot. This takes away from lecture time for the next material, making a cycle. He curves heavily on tests are as result, though.

Amazing professor if you seek help. His lectures are slightly confusing, probably because he is ridiculously smart and knows so much but he is always willing to help. He tries to act "scary" but he is very generous and there to help the students who actually want to learn the material. He will explain a problem in multiple ways until you understand

Professor Rose is without a doubt my favorite maths teacher at Chico. Now he does assign homework but what math class doesn't? Also he assigns a lot less compared to other teachers. The first half of class consists of going over the troubles you had in the previous nights homework and the second half is learning new material. Definitely the best!

do not take rose until you're just trying to squeck by with a C- on your last math class you ever have to take. hw everyday. his lesson consist of 45 mins of doing last night's hw and 10 min lectures. you won't learn anything from rose. his office hours were ridiculous. 7am-8am. the only bright side is that he will throw in a 15% curves to exams.

Makes me laugh everyday, but never learned anything in a lecture. I only show up to turn in my hw, receive the new hw assigned, and start doing it cause what he does up on the board is all non-sense. Expect to learn by yourself because he doesn't lecture, only reviews the previous hw assignment you tried to do but didn't understand.

This man doesn't teach you what you need to know for the homework until it has been turned in. When he does teach he is wrong half the time and still acts as if he is better than you. I would rather castrate myself with dull rocks than take a class with him again.

Rose was a great teacher! He is very helpful if you take the time to go in to his office hours. He is misunderstood with his odd sense of humor, but always means well. I highly recommend taking his class, just remember to have an open mind!

Rose is VERY smart, but is not a great teacher at all. If you have the option, I would suggest taking someone else. He expects you to already know ALL of the material. Doesn't go over anything in class for your homework assignments, yet assigns something every night. Gives no notes. Hope you paid attention in Pre calc. Youll need it.

He's not as terrible as he says. Tests are straightforward. But I still highly discourage having him as an instructor. Lectures are not particularly helpful. Expect to put in a considerable amount of time out of class. A lot of people blame him for their grade but in the end you are still responsible to learn the material.

I cannot even stress it enough, DO NOT TAKE HIM. He was overall an awful teacher, he didn't give us enough notes to be able to succeed on homework. He didn't know stats at all and had a hard time explaining concepts to students. Not only was he bad at stats and teaching, but he made multiple people extremely uncomfortable... very creepy man.

Comment:

He is a interesting teacher with a unorthodox approach towards students and teaching styles. He probably gives notes once every 3 weeks (You have to teach yourself) I am a Math major so its interesting to teach myself; some of the test include material in which he never assigned homework but he curves the test. He doesn't mind if you sleep or text.
