RECOMMENDED: I had Veach for 101 and Contemp. Issues. He was very distanced from the teaching process, almost dictating from above. He was smart, and really wants to share what he knows, and he is VERY articulate. He will help, but he didn't seem too invested in it ("you should get this"). Not a hard class, and I enjoyed it.

Although the level of participation is fairly low in most class periods, the information is always conveyed clearly and explained in multiple ways. I would personally say the textbook is pretty much optional, but know every detail of the pwrpts because they literally are all study guides. Happy Retirement Veach!

Such an amazing class! Seriously this professor is the best! All you need to do to ace his class is write down EVERYTHING on the power point and study it. I barely touched the text book. Half of your grade is from tests and the other half is from a research project.which wasn't too hard. Also there are extra credit opportunities. TAKE HIS CLASS!

Three one hour group presentations for one class? When I heard that, I nearly died. Honestly, Veach doesn't teach, the students teach each other. But if you have a great group to work with, then you'll love the class. Thank goodness the tests are easy too. Overall, easy enough class.

This was the BEST class ever. If someone says it was a bad class or he is a bad teacher it's only because they were lazy. The number one tip I can give you is to record his classes with a recorder, write down everything on the power points, make flash cards. Tests are NOT mult. choice. He is very smart and will help you if you need it.

He has been teaching for many years and knows his stuff very thoroughly. The textbook need only be used to look up a few theories for the quizzes, other than that it is a lecture (with powerpoint) class. It's a pretty chill class-6 quizzes & 1 research paper. A few extra-credit opportunities as well.

I have had Veach as an instructor twice. His outstanding knowleddge of his subject will keep you interested. His speaking is so eloquent, it almost made him sexy!

This professor knows his stuff. While for the more skittish student he can be slightly intimidating he answers any and all questions. There are six tests (the lowest score gets dropped) and one research paper that is assigned with plenty of time to complete the assignment. Really good class, but there is a lot of theory memorization. =)

One of the best teacher I've ever had. He knows his stuff. You don't need the book, he uses powerpoints and that's all you need for the quizzes. Six quizzes (lowest quiz grade is dropped) and one research project. No homework. Extra credit opportunities. He's very eloquent in his teaching; he creates a very comfortable learning atmosphere.

Amazing teacher. Used power point to make sure you got the notes you needed for the test and the majority of his tests questions are from the notes versus the book. Very interesting class and Veach was awesome at making issues and theories make sense by relating them to the students. Wish I had time to take another of his classes!

Great teacher! Walks in every day (sometimes late, but read on) with his clipboard in hand, drops it on the table and the lecture begins that very instant. No ****, very clear what he expects (5 quizzes + research project). His powerpoints are very clear, no need for textbook. Research project simple. Go to class, he's very entertaining.

I transfered from Western and have had four years at various 2 year and 4 year colleges; this professor is the very best I've ever experienced. He motivates,teaches, and makes it fun! Your crazy not to take any sociology class he offers! What ever he earns is not enough, he'll make you think!
