Absolutely the most boring professor ever. I understood all his stupid jokes, and they weren't funny. For a satire class I thought I would laugh at least once in this class, but he sucked any fun there was in Monty Python out. I hated every second in that class.

Take him for Satire or 17th/18th c lit. His humor is sly and flies right past most students who thus wrongly find him boring. The background I gained from his courses has really supported my work in English since then. Show up, read well, write well and follow the syllabus and I fail to see how you could avoid the A.

Comment:

Helpful and nice teacher, but lectures are straight from the book. Gives pop quizzes (1 open ended) but you would be able to predict what he'll ask by mid semester & therefore know what to study. Conferences after each speech and good thing about the class is that you only have to make 4 easy speeches. All the other classes are lectures.

If I weren't sure that I wanted to be an English major, this course would seriously make me consider switching. Very dull lectures, absolutely no class discussion, and subjective grading. I loathed every minute that I spent in this class. I do have some very impressive notebook doodles, however. If you value your interest in English, avoid!

boring lectures and unclear as to what he wants for papers. He told us nothing about the midterm or final except that they were comprehensive and that the questions would be very broad. He is a hard grader and obviously doesnt know correct MLA format... horrible professor, don't take!

I think he was really helpful and if you really put in the effort, you could get an A. Just make the corrections he suggests to you in your conference. The essays he assigned had interesting topics (minus research paper) and he graded fairly. I would reccommend him.

this man is freakin' awful, he's so boring and you learn absolutely nothing, he knocks your writing style and doesn't help you fix it, he's awful. it's near impossible even w/ the help of CTLE to get a A in his class... he sucks

Don't take his writing class! Take another teacher! This guy is very boring and grades very hard. Only a few in the entire class get an A-. The essays he makes you write as very dull and you have to work your ass off to get a B or B-. P.S.~Tell him he looks like the guy from Jurassic Park.

Very sweet, intelligent man. He's explicitly clear about most everything and wants to see his students succeed while at the same time maintains relatively strict standards, grade-wise. Good class, great teacher. Funny, too!
