Comment:
Rick is the best! He makes logic so interesting, while keeping it easy for non-STEM-minded people. The first half of the class is formal logic, which is more mathy. The second half involves logical fallacies and cognitive biases. After taking this class, I feel like an expert on logic, but that might just be the Dunning/Kruger Effect.

Great Professor, gives you all of the materials you need to do good in his class, and offers extra credit to those who show up to section which is helpful.

Entertaining professor. All grades are spelled out clearly in a spreadsheet, and the TAs do a great job of grading quickly. Section is optional, but attendance gives you extra credit. No midterms, just five quizzes and the final. The material is pretty easy, especially when it's divided and conquered through the quiz system.

Prof Grush is super funny and entertaining during lecture. He also explains the material in a clear, concise way with plenty of options to access the material outside class including posted slides, podcasts, and example problems. More like a math class than a philosophy class. Also this quarter you could earn extra credit by just going to section.

He gives you an extensive amount of practice problems and if you do those and dedicate time to study for the 5 quizzes and final his class is easy and straightforward. The lectures are fun and easy to follow and if you have to miss them, they are all on his youtube channel. Overall, his class was easy and there was no curveballs. Just do the work.

Make sure you can devote enough time for his class. For Phil 1, an average of 3.5 hour reading is required for each class, which is not what some would expect for an introductory class. Thankfully, Grush explains concepts well and keeps students engaged. Grush's class will definitely be rewarding if you are can afford the price.

If you come to UCSD, you get to take him because it'll be such a pity for you if you graduated here but never took his class. His class is sort of hard as they need a lot of readings. But after you finish them and go to the lecture, he's gonna make you totally enlightened. Strongly recommended!

Straight forward lectures. Youtube videos help a lot! He explains material with multiple examples which helps also.I Recommend attending discussion just because it helps practicer the quizzes. You have quizzes almost every week but if you get the material and practice examples you'll be fine. He's very good at explaining the material.

You have quizzes almost every week in his class, but theyre not bad. He also has lectures on YouTube (which is how I was able to catch up when I enrolled week 2) that are helpful if you fall behind or something. Easy A as long as you keep up with the pace of the class. Hes pretty funny and will give good responses (usually) when asked a question.

Phil 10 itself is pretty easy, and Prof. Grush's materials make it even more so. Lectures are helpful, but if you are not that diligent you may check out the online materials in which slides for lectures are included.

Really great professor. His lectures are online as well with some practice so you can get lots of practice with the work. It's a fairly easy class and I would recommend this professor! The quizzes are pretty straightforward and should be easy if you study.

He was funny and a good guy. Just know it is conceptual and will take a lot of memorization (or cramming) to do well. I did pretty badly in the beginning of the quarter because I didn't try and managed to pull my grade up with some work.

I loved this class! The quiz/final structure is very straightforward and the material was super interesting to me. He uses a google docs system that is very efficient and posts all of his lectures on youtube. If you study and understand the material, you should get a good grade!

There are 5 quizzes and a final. He's an incredible professor, I managed to learn most of the concepts just from his text and youtube videos. Really does want his students to succeed. This class has real-life applications in assessing the validity of arguments (from your peers, professors, politicians, etc.). Would take again, but not easy.

Lectures? Not mandatory. Study? Yes. A lot. Everyday. (Chapters 3&4 especially.) Rick is an amazing professor, great at explaining every single concept and how to do everything. He's hilarious in lecture, and sometimes on his youtube lectures. Very much wants everyone to do well. Must have prof at UCSD!

Rick is funny, passionate, and consistently articulate. Any question he has a good answer for and speaks genuinely (as far as I can tell). His content can be very relevant to the real world which is a rarity for most philosophy professors. This guy is a must have at UCSD. ALSO READ THE TEXTBOOK

Rick is a great guy, really funny and interesting lectures so you will want to go to class, but all the lectures are on youtube so you don't have to. The class is straightforward except Proofs (chapt. 3-4) are hard and that test is the hardest. Make sure you do practice problems in the book and online and you'll be fine.
