He is awesome and this was my all time favorite class. I fell in love with film photography and I think the process of using the dark room to develop and enlarge photos is the absolute coolest thing ever. I would recommend this class to anyone, in fact I am taking it again, Photo 2 next semester. Great professor and class. Funny, nice guy.

This class changed my whole view on photography. I admit, I was a bit of a snob--I thought it was nothing more than button-mashing. So not true. It's a self-paced class, but he shows you the ropes on the printing process and is always there to give feedback. The least stressful class I've taken, and one of my wisest decisions indeed :)

SO BORING. Do not take this class. All you do is stare at pictures and no notes are given. Midterm is very hard. Two papers due on the last day and I felt very rushed. Basically I learned nothing all semester. I did not open my textbook once. Nice guy but horrible teaching method.

This class was a little challenging. In class you just look at pictures or watch films. Theres no homework and both the assignments are due the last day of class. 1 mueseum paper and 1 research paper which is EXTREMELY EASY! Only 2 tests midterm/final & both are part takehome. Interesting class and topics, but you have to take notes on the photos.

The people that said he was boring are wrong. Some of the MATERIAL is boring, but that's what you get with a HISTORY class. Rick Miller is a very intelligent man and knows his stuff. This is college people, if you have an issue with the workload go back to Suffolk Community........

He wasn't a horrible professor, he was just boring. I think i feel asleep every class. No homework, two papers that are due at the end of the semester, and in class writings(super easy). Midterm and final are part take home and part take in class. Its an easy class, just really really really really boring!

The comment below me says it all. He wasn't a bad prof, he was just very boring & I don't think I would take him again. No hw, I barely used the textbook. All assignments due at the end of the sem, which made me feel very rushed. Offers extra credit. Very boring class but not a lot of work. Got a C on midterm, surprisingly got a A- for semester.

Well - here it goes. Professor Miller seemed to be a cool guy, but definitely isn't. He makes photography seem to be boring. All you do is look at photographs and theres no time to even take notes. Very tough grader for midterm, papers were ok as far as I know, didn't even get the grades back at the end of the semester. Shouldnt be teaching.

He's a nice guy, and the class is pretty easy (no homework, easy tests, etc.)But he's not very helpful, and doesn't really explain the material well enough, just rushes through it. If you don't actually read the chapters in the textbook, you probably will remember nothing come test time.

Prof Miller is a great guy! The class is really easy, just show up and pay attention. Anything that is on the tests he goes over explicitly beforehand. The papers are also really simple.

Took him for Photo History (225). Nicest man anywhere. Will go out of his way to help you out- I needed a book for the oral report that was out of print, and all I did was ask him what to do, and he ordered it for the library for me. Class was easy enough, he makes it relatively simple. Lectures are slide shows, couple of easy papers. Take him. :)

layed back easy class if you like to take pix. he is very helpful and gives good feedback. class is fun b/c small and close quarters you get to know eachother quickly. easy A, I recommend it
