Comment:
This isn't a review about the course, but rather Rob himself. I spent a single day in his class and witnessed several instances of verbal abusiveness towards some of his students; He may be a nice guy to his favorites, but it's very unfortunate if he decides you're not worthy of his respect. Very uncomfortable interactions with him led me to drop.

Rob is a nice guy once u get to know him. Someone you want on your side in the future. History of Animation as a freshman seems easy but it's not. Watching cartoons all day but u still have to write reports on them and really learn the meaning behind the anim peice. Rob can be nice, just give him a chance

Rob is a great guy. He cares about the students. When he was the head of the animation program everyone really got to know him. He may not be your typical LMU professor but all animators are different in one way or another. His anim 100 class is very easy but he did a good job coaching us through our thesis projects.

Rob is a great person, he's funny and easy-going. All of us love him. But might be better if he's more strict. But even if he's easy, don't take his class if you just want to sit around and do nothing.

Rob is one of the worst messes of a human being I've ever been taught by. He has no industry experience and chases away more competent teachers who threaten his job. He throws juvenile tantrums and constantly acts out at his students. I hope someone wises up and does the right thing.

He is the worst instructor I've had in my whole college career. If you like being talked down to and patronized, take his class. He doesn't work in the animation industry and plays favorites like no other. Don't expect a good grade without sucking up.

He's a good guy but has some major anger management issues. If you get him mad, he WILL MAKE YOU feel akward. Otherwise his classes are pretty easy and history of animation is a great class.

EASIEST CLASS EVER!!! And one of the most fun I've taken at LMU. Fourth graders could probably pass this class with an A. You watch some great shorts and features, and Rob is a terrific lecturer. A must take!!

All these guys dissing Rob are blind to the fact that there is more to animation than just cg. Rob Burchfield is such a great professor who is not just concerned with drawings, but rather why we are animators in the first place. It's an art form that has meaning beyong the pencil. Rob wants you to become the best critic/animator possible.

he is very much the type of person that gives you what you give him (so if you give a sh-t try and he will care in return).

He knows a lot about not knowing anything, ignore any comments made by those who only took him for Anim 100...they know nothing... they aren't animators!

Rob is hilarious and history of animation is all about watching cartoons in class. He offers insightful comments about the films, and asks the class opinion on the films and shorts.

Don't take Rob for anything other than Anim100. If you're a major, switch out now. Does not teach you what you need to learn to get a job in the industry. Most painful, yet expensive waste of time of my life. My will to live decreased greatly after.

Rob's awesome. The class is super fun, and super easy. Watch cartoons, and some discussion. There's an essay or two, but they're easy. Midterm and final are easy to study for, and everyone generally does well. And, it counts as a critical arts core!
