Dr. Garnett is one of my favorite professors at TCU. His Cont. Perspectives class is very engaging. He wants all of his students to succeed, and he chooses interesting articles and chapters to read in class. He is very approachable and happy to discuss topics outside of the class. He is very passionate about what he teaches and makes class fun.

TAKE HIM!! Especially for Cont. Pres, such a great professor. If you put in the work, you will truly enjoy the class, and reap the benefits. Daily quizzes, but very doable if you do the reading. Highly recommended.

Contending Perspectives has been one of my favorite classes at TCU. Dr. Garnett is a fantastic professor who keeps the class both interesting and engaging, and he makes himself readily available to students for any questions or struggles they have. The class is very manageable if you keep up with the reading. Would definitely recommend.

Dr. Garnett is one of the best professors at TCU. I have never had a teacher put forth so much effort on behalf of their students. He continually goes out of his way to help students succeed. He even allowed us to design our final paper so that we could apply our economic learning to something we actually cared about. Will take again if possible.

Class time is super involved. One of those classes where you won't be bored. Dr. Garnett is super cool and keeps class interesting. As long as you keep up with the readings which are actually interesting, not just taken out of some textbook, you'll do great. I recommend to anyone.

Best Econ class I've taken at TCU. Dr. G's lectures are interesting and easy to understand. The class was very organized. Only homework were typically short readings, and there were no surprises on the tests. Dr. G is a very fair grader and very helpful outside of the classroom. I strongly recommend taking any Econ class with Dr. Garnett.

Dr. Garnett is a very intelligent and thoughtful professor. He clearly cares about the quality of his classes and works to keep students engaged. Don't get excited about the "no tests" aspects of this course because the papers you write instead are long and graded pretty narrowly. Dr. G is always willing to help and emailing him is encouraged.

The class is focussed around 2 major essays, one at midterm and one at the final. There are no tests! However there are daily reading quizzes, These are easy and only worth 2 points, so even if you bomb it, you'll most likely get a 12. If you need to miss class you can just email him and he will let you take it next class. Participation also matte

Find a different elective. Hist of Econ Thought requires a lot of work and reading. Quizzes were difficult and the papers were harder. Dr. G keeps instructions open on the papers, but grades them very hard. Open instructions made it harder. Personal Connection assignments are ineffective, we listened to students give their "feelings" on readings.

Very interesting class, great professor who truly cares about his students and his work. Always available to help/answer questions. The only problem is that he grades the papers really hard, and does not specify what he wants them to include, so the papers are fairly difficult.

Dr. Garnett is a great teacher. He holds many class discussions and encourages participation. There is reading nearly every day but it is almost always interesting. The daily quizzes will help your average a lot if you do the readings. He grades the essays hard but tries to help. Not an easy A.

Didn't do as well as I had hoped on the first paper, but improved my grade to an A after going into talk to him. He puts a lot of work and thought into his teaching and if you take initiative, he will help you. The content is important, but more importantly he teaches you how to think. Highly recommend, one of my favorite teachers at TCU so far.

This class is a great take! An A takes effort, and you can't get by without reading, but Dr. G is a GREAT professor and if you have a chance to take him you should. If you aren't sure what he expects, he'll tell you. Don't take the class because it's easy, take it because you WILL learn if you put in the effort. I RECOMMEND

Dr. Garnett gives an extremely interesting class that provides different perspectives on economics matters. If students take serious the readings and put forth effort then Dr. Garnett will work with you. If students choose not to read assignments, it will hurt double-fold: once on the quizzes and then on the papers.

Two words: he cares. About economics, about his class, and about his students. Easily my best professor so far. He keeps readings short and will sometimes change them if he thinks they'll be boring for us. Rubric sounds intimidating, but it's awesome. Papers can be graded toughly, but the 50% weighted quizzes and participation cushion it fairly.

Tough class, but a great professor to have for it. Each class period is engaging and interesting. Daily reading quizzes + 3 short papers instead of tests. Keep up with readings and it's an awesome class with one of TCU's best
