Wonderfully, magically, intelligently insane. The class is easy if you manage to not have damage the half of your brain you should be using to think with. He will make you think though, if you disapprove of that, don't take his class. He won't hand you the answers, he makes you work a bit for them.

A very confusing class. In his defense, some students did well and understood him... A lot of students have agreed with me that he is deliberately confusing and obfuscates the subject matter way too much. He answers questions in very vague ways. The class does not prepare you for other classes that it serves as a prereq. Take it with someone else.

Confusion is the best way to describe the first few weeks. Hang in there, it will sink in, and be worth it in the end. GREAT sense of humor, extremely sharp for not just his age, but any age.

At first you will be thinking that this guy is a nutcase, that he's an old man lost in his world of numbers. But if you have an open mind, you will succeed. He teaches in a very different style, making math seem almost like child's play, with metaphors about Igor going to the store to buy variables. If you put effort into the class, you'll do fine.

The best math professor at UNH. If you do not understand him you are doomed to failure in life. Try riding a bike when you are 170 years old, and being sharper than the students to boot. All your base are belong to formalism. Someone set us up the axiom.

If you want an 84 year old teacher who doesnt speak loud or hand out a syllabis or tell you what will be on any exam or final, then this is your class. Otherwise, never be a math major or ever take a class with him. You will go into his class happy and then leave miserable...

Ive had him for a couple of classes. Dont take him if you dont understand math. You will probably get a good grade regardless but you wont understand the class. His class is confusing for a lot of people and most people think he isnt making sense because of it, but if you understand advanced math there isnt a teacher you could learn more from.

I am a decent student at math yet his class was anything but math. I dropped before the inevitable failure, my friend that stayed in for the semester ended up repeating anyways. Heed our warning.
