He has horrible handwriting. The tests are so difficult, he curves grades more than 30 points per test and there are still hardly any As or Bs on the tests. Doesn't collect homework so grades are 90% tests 10% quizzes. Do not take this class if you are not going to devote a few hours a day for homework.

Do NOT take. Couldn't read anything on the board. Tests were over material never covered. When questions were asked in class he said to go to office hours, when you went to office hours he asks why you don't ask questions in class. Goes way to fast over material. Overall very bad.

No. Just no. Handwrites and uses typewriter because "computers and calculators are items of Satan" bright, I'll give him that. Assumes everyone is on the same page. If you're good at math, you're fine. If you've had a b or less average in the past, run away and don't look back. Moves fast, very unorganized, very scattered. No calculators!!

cant read his hand writing. goes real fast and does not follow the book. his tests are curved a little but the problems on the test are harder than any in the book.

He is such good prof. I love his class, but you need to do the homework every time. If you will open your book and spend two hours a day studying, you will be fine

Bix is a nice guy who will go out of his way to help his students. However, his notes are nearly impossible to understand or read and the tests are extremely difficult and often things that he hasn't even taught in depth about. The only way I remotely passed was because I wrote my own notes and did the homework. TWICE EACH. Wouldn't recommend him.

Very bright man, but not very good at delivering the material to be easily understood. Handwriting is very hard to read. Tests are graded on a curve. Got an A in Precalc last semester and still having a very hard time understanding what's going on in class.

Terrible teacher. DO NOT TAKE MATH 121 WITH HIM. I'm very upset...I chose him by reviews on this site, switched up my whole schedule and now drive out there 4 days a week. Really wish I hadn't. He isn't clear. He doesn't teach well. He knows his stuff, except for when he gets flustered. He moves way too fast..I get calc is hard, but he doesn't help

Love this man. One of the best math professors I have ever had. His tests are not hard as long as you understand the material. It is because of his class that I decided to pursue a minor in math.

Knows his math, rarely makes mistakes. Exams hardest I've ever taken. 20% of exam unpredictable. Curves exams, drops lowest exam. Don't count on the grading scale. You get exactly the grade you worked for regardless. I got a C. Smart man, rediciouls exams.

Dr. Bix was the best professor I ever had. I have been teaching mathematics for 25 years, and have used much of what I learned from him. Chalk? Really, that's got you hung up? Can't take the rigor? Don't take the class! Looking for a math degree? He's the real deal. Brilliant man, inspirational teacher.

Bix is awesome! He is great at providing rigorous motivation for theorems. His handwriting is impossible to read, but he never minds repeating what he wrote. Very humble & brilliant. Will not make you feel dumb because he cares about the math more than his pride, unlike some of the other math faculty at UM-Flint.

Thought Bix was an excellent professor. very interesting teaching approach, especially if you are math major. Some of his classes would probably be difficult if you aren't a math person

Mr. Bix is a very understanding professor. He says in the beginning that if you're too busy for the course, take it again next semester; it's understandable. He answers homework questions every class, and if no time is left, he will do the rest at home and give you a copy of his work. He encourages you to interrupt him during lessons with questions

Horrible handwriting plus chalk everywhere. All he does to help is doing the problem in front of you. Tests are 100% of grade. Curves are amazing, but class averages are C or below. Frequent tutor required to do well. Allowed to drop 1 test and triple final to help grade. Started class telling everyone to take another professor if possible.

I would not recommend this class to anyone. He laughs at students that ask questions sometimes and Doesn't explain things very well to someone new to the course. If I had not taken Calculus in high school, I would not have done well. Study groups outside of class was more helpful than going to class at all. Only grades are tests.

I will never take a class from Bix again. He informed my class that we should not get tutors because they would confuse us, and yet was never available to answer my questions. His teaching was poor, and while he was a nice person, he had little personality that kept one interested in Calc II. I would recommend someone else if you need a good GPA.

Bix was a great teacher when I actually WENT to class. He knows what he's doing when it comes to math, but he gets distracted easily from the subject matter. He's really interested in teaching the "why" part of math, and sometimes that hurts the "how" part for the student. It's hard to describe the way he teaches, but he's good at what he does.

Bix is a really great guy as well as a great teacher. It's true, his writing is hard to read, and he usually has chalk all over himself, but other than that, his tests go right along with the homework and examples and he's a really fair grader. I definitely recommend taking his classes.

Dr. Bix is one of my favorite profs here. He dosent like calculators but you don't need them for any of his tests. He does expect you to be a normal student and not the usual spoon fed type. Just attend lecture, do homework, study, and you'll do great. He will tell you to drop the class if you can't do trig and algerbra well but who can blame him
