Prof. Corber has incredibly interesting lectures and he is a highly educated scholar in film and gender studies. There is plenty of opportunity for participation, so watch the films and speak up. He is a critical paper grader, so invest time in papers or take them to the Writing Center.

His grading is fair. You may need to meet with him if you want an A on a paper, even f you write well. He wants you to write what he wants to hear really. The classes are boring if you don't give input, but the readings (lots of them) are interesting and relevant to the class. I'm so-so...heard there were better teachers for this class.

Very tough grader. I'm a very good writer, and I can't manage to get higher than a B in his class. I recommend that you take a different WMGS class before taking this one so that you're already familiar with the vocab and basic ideas. It is awful how he plays favorites. He decided day one he did not like this one girl and he froze her out all semester. It is dangerous to raise your hand depending on his mood. He is cranky and moody and everyhting depends on how he feels at that moment. He makes people feel like idiots...when he is not in a good space. He is a little scary.

I took history of sexuality in my freshman year and I found professor Corber to be intelligent, well spoken and fair in his grading. I got a B+ in the class and that's what I think I deserved. He chose interesting reading and every class was worthwhile
