Comment:

Covers a lot of in depth theory in the lectures that is beyond what's asked for in assignments and exams. As an essay course this was A LOT of work. A weekly lab, altermating between a small solo lab, then a BIG group project lab every other week. Attendance is required and the course is a lot of work, but if you do it then its not too hard.

Prof Corless is a great overall university professor. He explains things clearly and uses examples similar to what will actually be tested on. He clearly highlights what will be on tests and finals. His practice exams are extremely close to his midterms so if you can understand how to do the practice ones you'll be golden for the actual tests.

Easy midterm. Students then stop going to his unprepared lectures. Insulting final that makes no sense to most students that studied hard for a fair final so no one asks him for a reference letter. Then gives made up marks

He loves math and you can see that when he teaches. Very awesome teaching but you have to make sure you like math as much as him. If you're interested in the course then he will be interested in helping you. Gave me 90% in a course I wasn't good at just because I was interested in what I was doing.

I haven't taken his numerical analysis class but he's definitely not some elitist guy focused on IQ or whatever that comment said... I think professors are just misunderstood because they are indeed much smarter than the students that they teach... he gave easy exams this year which was nice of him but it looks like he lost hope in us haha

He's really nice if you ask him for help and actually make an effort to understand the material and show up to class. I've never seen him talk down on a student or be demeaning when someone is genuinely looking for help. He does make it clear that if you don't attend lectures he won't baby you.

This prof is arrogant. He may be smart, but If he thinks you don't match his IQ,, you're not in his tribe. He might be smiling and helpful enough one on one, but I have seen him demean students at times. And these are bright students. I agree with some others here in not recommending his teaching style and attitude.

Really good prof. The course itself is rather difficult, but his notes are clear and concise. As long as you do the labs though, you should be well off since the midterm was mostly based off of them. Nice and friendly and goes out of his way to know everyone's names.

He's a great prof! He teaches well, and is really approachable. He teaches some things that aren't on exams, but it's only because he thinks it'll help you if you take future math courses. His quizzes are only hard if you don't study. And he remembers everybody's name too :D

HORRIBLE prof. Taught minimal amounts (if any) of the actual course material; instead, taught what he thought the course should include. I had to teach myself entirely out of the textbook. Offers minimal exs. He is going to Cuba for a week right before our final exam (meaning we cannot contact him with any qs we may have). Get out of his section.

The absolute worst professor i've had so far. He spent more time in class talking about computer science and teaching everyone relaxation exercises, than he spent actually teaching calculus. All my class notes were useless because they were so irrelevant to the course material. Had to teach myself the entire course from the textbook!

Most useless prof I have ever met. I sat through 5 lectures and didn't write down a single thing. Basically had to teach myself all the material for the midterm. If you are smart, get out of his class ASAP or just study by yourself; you'll probably do better. At one point, he left us for a couple weeks saying we could catch up after. He's a joke.

oh hell, it's sad to hear that people stopped attending his classes after the midterm, i stopped going to his classes 3 weeks in! I stayed home and studied off the text book and get better marks than people that goes to his class, the professor is no help, all my friends tell me other sections are alot better.

hated this class. teacher was horrible, spent half the class talking about his opinion on how the textbook teaches a lesson. i didnt learn anything from any of his lectures, it came to a point that i never wrote anything down because he never said anything important. i stopped attending his lectures after the midterm to go to a different section

Horrible prof. He barely focuses on the material at all, offers very few examples to attempt to teach the concepts, and his lectures are basically useless. Get out well you can, or find another section to go to.
