Lots of homework. Goes on a lotta tangents in class. It feels like he's blind if you raise your hand. But he's a cool guy that knows his stuff. Take his class if you already know some stuff and really wanna learn.

Comment:
His course notes skip lots of steps, making it kind of useless. His lectures doesn't explain concepts well either. He also tends to go off on random tangents. His midterms come straight from the assignment but gives vague answers about what material will appear on the midterm. Overall, he is a fun guy but not a good prof in teaching or giving exams

Just do the suggested problems and youll pass. If u are a self-learner, dont go to the lectures. The midterms are directly from the suggested problems (the easiest ones).

Only giving 4.0 due to his exams being very fair and straight from assigned questions. Had him in AM1413 and he was trash but much more reasonable in 3rd year. Question for midterms are usually from first 5 questions too.. Not the case for final. Dont waist your time with lectures better off just doing it on your own.

Worst teacher of your university career. Does not explain anything. Literally. He thinks he is great, for being really into his subject and teaching it in an abstract way. Does not actually show you how to do math. Learn from textbook. His quizzes come from the textbook, AT LEAST. Will make you hate your life. Climate change denier.

Got assigned into Essex's class for AM1413 in first year engineering. The guy knows his stuff but he honestly does not know how to teach. Encourages asking questions but when you actually put your hand up he looks right at you and ignores you unless you leave your hand up for 10 min. If you can go to Macissacs, go. Quizes were straight from hw

His arrogance is crippling and makes calculus an absolute displeasure to learn. Makes studying and lectures a waste of time. Thanks patrickjmt. I have never hated a prof based on their being rather than their teaching, until I met Christopher Robin.

He actually is a good person and has a good sense of humor. His exams are more than fair. He made his final easy enough that everyone that studied should be able to pass. However, only the exceptional few would get really high marks.

If you get this guy, I highly recommend skipping his class and going to another Calc lecture. He is a terrible teacher. He doesn't explain concepts at all and if you have any questions he will most likely make fun of you. Also get ready for his distractions during exams.

He does not lie, just take his recommendations seriously and you will be fine. Clear style, with interesting lectures, considering the material. Definitely made it worth going to class. Negatives: never provided enough practice questions for mastery of the subject, so I had to go hunting through other textbooks (only needed for high grades).

Best out of the three first year profs. You'll have the easiest quizzes, literally one question quizzes while all the other classes have 3 or 5 questions. If you even try to do some of the homework you'll get above 75 easily. Everyone whose complaining here is just lazy.

Endless examples, and instead of connecting them to a lesson, he talks on about useless tangents, and smiley faces. Thank god he didn't he didn't write the textbook. Oh wait.
