Our class went for 40 students to 6.... Lectures are all over the place. There is no clear path of where the lectures are going, often the few that attend lectures go on rants arguing for or against a theory. Basically google will be your best friend, get ready to teach yourself!

I love Professor DiSalle. He is absolutely so helpful. He gives you the mark you deserve, no bs. A brilliant man and an inspiration to young men to be respectful and mature. I wish he was not my professor so that we could be friends and go out for hikes and pizza. So kind and caring and extremely brilliant!

Best professor ever!!!!!!!!! He is very nice and funny and by far the best teacher at Western, him as well as Bill Demopolous. He is very helpful if you go to see him after class. Honestly, he is way to good to be teaching at a school like Western. Such a waste, intelligent brilliant people with mediocre jobs.

Took the class simply because I was interested in the material. Really loved the content of the course and even enjoyed the readings but had to drop it because it was more work then my mandatory courses. Assignments every week multiple pages typed in length and midterm was 3 essay questions and sort answer but was given less then an hour to finish

It is true that he goes all over the place when lecturing, and you can get lost in all the ideas very easily; however, visiting him during office hours would be very helpful. He also held a review session for us before the final exam, very nice of him. Take courses with him and enjoy his teaching and stories. The story of bear hunter is the best.

Disalle may not be for everyone, and he does go off on tangents sometimes, but ultimately he does provide a course narrative that fits together.

Although he is the world's leading expert on Ludwig Lange (came up with inertial frames), and a brilliant researcher, teaching is not really his thing. Talk to him after class, as his lectures are vague, and don't directly follow the readings. If you put some work into the class on your own, you can get a good mark.

He actually gave me a poor grade on 1 essay b/c he thought it was too well written for our 2nd year class. He failed to realize I was over the age of 40 and had a life beyond his classroom. Yes I am that Bright Disalle! You fail to see intellect when it is presented! Start listening and stop your incessant talking!

took the class winter 2006. showed up late (at least 5 minutes, and once 20) almost every class. no structure . bascially, enjoys hearing himself talk, and speaks alot. terrible lecturer, terrible professor, but witty. hard to dislike him because of his sense of humor.

Philosophy of Physics. He can't explain this stuff to save his life - goes PAINFULLY slowly, and is very unclear. Kind of a funny guy though. But his lectures are generally a sleeping aid, more than anythign else.

Absolute BORE. Classes were a waste of time. If you're looking to be excited by what you're studying pick another course... or another prof. Lousy teaching style and far too vague on several points. you're better of reading the course material a couple of times. Easy grader though.

Read before you go to class. He tends to be very general in his lecture, ( quite confusing at times), but helpful outside class. If you are a slacker who does last min. studying, avoid this class. You will prolly end up hating him for a bad grade.

Very unenthusiastic and unstructured teaching style. Lectures are sometimes hard to understand, but if you ever ask him in person for clarification, he's helpful. Lectures are rather general, so it is hard to know what is important sometimes. But he's a good guy, with a cynical sense of humour.

Very vague! Only explains the general idea expressed by each author. I'm sorry, but I can't write an essay using general ideas! He seems like a nice enough guy but he just can't teach very well.
