Gives really detailed explanations and wants to make sure you really understand the concepts. Tests follow the Theorems exactly and he is a fair grader. Pay attention, read each proof carefully, and follow the HW and the class will be great. Does a great job introducing some very abstract concepts.

Comment:
His lecture is too slow for my taste, however he makes Discrete Mathematics very easy to understand. He wrote his own textbook, which is great. The course doesn't have a good curve, but there's only 3 exams, and 1 quiz and lectures are non-mandatory.

Amazing professor. I took him for MATH 220 and really enjoyed his teaching style. He created the text for the course himself and provides it at the beginning of the course. He gives excellent feedback and is good about describing concepts in multiple ways. He really cares about the students and the course material.

Hicks is one of my favorite professors!! I've taken him for multiple courses and he is always more than helpful. Tries to explain things in different ways. Really enjoys math and computer science so will provide examples of applications of the topics you are learning.

Take him! Best prof I've ever had. Truly wants his students to succeed. Exams are easy and based on homework problems. Don't have to buy a textbook since he uses one he wrote (which is good!). His final was EXTRA easy since he "doesn't believe in giving finals just to torture students". He only gave us a final because he had to. Very nice man too!
