It was a real pleasure to learn from a real geolgist. He's only unapproachable to the timid. If you get in his face he's actually the coolest of the cool. So interesting.

Horton is a marvelous teacher and an incredibly smart person. He's always there to help his students, always understanding of student's needs, and he is THE BEST GEOLOGY PROFESSOR AT CSUB! He'll be department chair next year where he was previously so I hope this brings the whole department up. If you have a chance, take anything with him!

That previous comment is so wrong. He's very fair with everyone, is practically always available for questions, is sometimes grouchy but doesn't play games, as far as I can tell. A little sloppy in his grading, but not unfair. I like and respect him more than other instructors I've had in the geo dept. who have me considering bailing on CSUB.

Enjoyed the class. Long lectures, but if notes are studied well the exams are pretty easy. 98% of the material on the test is from lecture, the rest are from the lab. Automatic 100% in lab if labs are attempted/completed. Bubble in name on scantron!

A lot to absorb but attend lectures take GOOD notes. Everything needed is given in lecture no surprises. Never ask for a study guide! Long lectures but worth it.

Hard to do well in his class- a lot of material-exams are hard because there are only 35?s that cover 6 long chapter and about 75 pgs of notes- so you must know everything and there are only 3 notes-labs were awful and frustrating-do not take this cla

He is a very knowledgeable teacher in this class. He expects you to follow his instructions and show up to class. You benefit if you come to class. I liked this teacher. The labs didn't relate to the class too much, but were still interesting to learn

He is a total jerk. He deducted 5 points off of our first test for not bubbling in our names on the scantron. He never warned us or told us to bubble in our names. He is totally not approachable. The labs are useless.
