A LOT of reading. Like seriously, not a class to take if you have trouble keeping on top of weekly readings, but a good design for an online course. Clear objectives for each week which relate directly to test questions. Assignments are pass/fail and super super easy. Tests aren't too bad as long as you did at least most of the readings.

I absolutely loved this prof. He was the most organized prof I have EVER had. There is a lot of reading but he does not expect you to know every detail of each one. I finished the course with a 96 and all I had to do was read all the readings, take notes while I read and answer the practice questions he gave us with each exam.

Took this class because my first year electives from my past university did not transfer over So being in my 5th year of school, I am usually confident in my writing and answers. Although I have completed 100% of the readings. I cannot seem to understand what the prof wants? He is extremely rude in comments on testsanswering questions. AVOID

Being an online course, more reading is expected but his assigned readings are long and difficult to get through. With exceptions to Pocuis, most other articles and books were dry and boring. He doesn't give very good feedback and the exam questions are confusing. Always says you don't answer the question even if you interpret it the best you can.

Dr. Lewis's course was terrible. Online lectures were longwinded and awful. Readings were almost completely outdated. Horrible to get in contact with. Some of the readings were pure PAIN and even as a dedicated student with a 4.0 GPA I barely made it through them and I even skipped a few. Avoid at all costs.

I found it good! Everything is online so you don't actually have to go to class. The grades are spread over six in-class essays, and the lowest grade is dropped. It was a lot of reading, but I found you could pick one or two articles to know best (plus the lecture) and still do well on the test. Some of the material was very interesting.

This course was terrible. Prof Lewis online lectures were painful to read, and the end sections on culture were laughable. I did the readings as said, and did not acquire appropriate grades, considering this is an elective course. I would avoid him at all costs.

I did this course with Dr. Lewis by distance, and at first I couldn't stand him. I thought the expectations were really high. But, once the course started going, I found the readings really easy to understand and the material was pretty interesting. If you read ALL the readings given, you will do really well in this course. Easy A+ for sure.

this prof is probably the most boring prof at mun not to mention the content is totally snooze worthy. A lot of reading and it was an IN CLASS course and he did ZERO teaching, so you had to do the readings in detail on your own and then write and in class essay... He posted "written lectures" as if it was a distance course..TERRIBLE

I can not believe this prof has a 3.9 rating. This prof is such a dry prof. He can not make anything sound intresting. I dreaded going to class because of him. He is dreadful. I re did this course with another prof and I got an 81 with her, that is almost 30 more marks than I got with Lewis. DO NOT TAKE A COURSE WITH HIM!

If you study a moderate amount, you will get an A --if you commit yourself, A+ is ensured. There are a lot of readings, yes, but it's not as though he wants meticulous details. Simply do the work, understand the main point from each of the readings and you'll be perfectly fine.

It's a sociology course, so reading long material is expected. This prof is really good. He is clear about what to expect from you, read the material and understand it, he even emphasize that you do not need to agree with the material just understand the point it's making. Highly recommended.

He is the most boring prof I have ever had. I was in the front row one day and actually fell asleep. He probably didn't notice anyways because he doesn't look at anyone or make eye contact. He talks in a mono-tone voice and stares at the back wall. I didn't go to class because I felt like pulling my hair out so I passed with a 53%.

One of the better profs in the Sociology department. He cares about his students and how well they do. He is looking to give marks; not take them away. The class material can be a little boring, so try to focus on the parts that you like as all the exam questions give you choices on what topics you want to answer about.

Robert is a fine professor. His emphasis on methods, and on understanding the course readings as products, may have seemed beyond course level to some, but he made such seemingly complex ideas accessible to all. The work was simple but enlightening. This course is an absolute must for anyone starting out in the social sciences at Memorial.

I took this distance course and it was a joke. The material is boring but there's not much to read and Lewis will give out example questions prior to the written exam.
