he is the cutest little thing. I hated the class but went just to not hurt his feelings. Because that would make me sad.

This class, is a bad repeat of the good global society course. He does ot connect any lectures with the actual course, and spends much of the time rambling about topics unimportant to the class. DO not take problems of globalization unless it is required.

Ross no longer talks about his books. He teaches something all the other soc professors lack - quantitative research. He loves graphs and numbers, which is a refreshing, helpful and USEFUL change from all the abstract stuff a la Bhachu et. al. Take Ross if you want to brush up on your quantitative skills.

I enjoyed Ross's class very much. He can be difficult to understand at times, but he is very smart and clearly takes an interest in his students and the subject matter. His grading is hard to figure sometimes and fluctuates a lot but he is a fair and reasonable professor. I am glad I took this class.

Alot of energy but loves to hear himself talk, as well as name drop. he tlaks about his book so much sometimes you think you are watching an Info-mertial rather than a class. does alot of work via blackboard which is good only if you know/like to use it if not you are screwed.

Take any class with Ross if you want to hear all about how wonderful he is. If you have an interest in Sociology seek another Professor because after his course you might reconsider.

don't take cities and suburbs if you have a background in urban studies, esp if you've already taken GEOG 20 with Deb Martin who is amazing.

Make sure you are passionate about sociology before taking this course. If you have any doubt in your mind, I advise not taking it. Ross is a horrible professor and the class is hell.

Bob Ross is pretty fabulous! He has a passion for his subject matter which is respectable, given that you know he's put his money where his mouth is. He's tough on his students, but he goes to bat for his students!

interesting topics discussed.. but it seems that reading a book could do just as well as listening to his lecture.. doesn't do much to encourage more thinking... lays it out for you and thats that. class is usually boring.. quizzes and papers graded easily - sort of an easy A class

Professor Ross actually took the time to talk to me both in and out of class about class material and the world. Class was challenging, but incredibly interesting. Ross seems to be a very intelligent man who strives to make a difference.

class was sometimes boring, he used long complex sentences and I could sometimes get lost in the middle. picks good speakers. he listens to students opinions and tries to make them think on their own instead of regurgitating what he says back to him. good class if you can get all the reading done!

he's awesome. A lot of people don't like him but I think thats 'cause they dont like to think for themselves. He stretches you to understand concepts and ideas without spoon feeding exactly what they mean or how they apply. I like that. He's passionate about his work and is an awesome teacher.

I was really excited about taking the class but had to drop it because of its difficulty level. The teacher would also call on me constantly and try his best to make me look like an idiot. This is the only teacher that has ever made me cry in class. I would not recommend taking any of his courses.
