Horrible semester. He's a rude and condescending person. He grades harsh and knowingly gives you more homework than can be completed in the time frame given. I had to focus all my efforts towards the 1 credit lab and had no time to do any work for my 3 credit lecture part.

I am a chemistry major and this was the hardest chemistry class I've had so far, and it should not have been at all. He grades harsh, gives impossible quizzes before the labs, and is less than helpful when you ask him for it. He is degrading, condescending, and rude. One of my least favorite professors at JMU ever.

At first he comes across as very tough and condescending, but you learn that he just holds you to a higher standard. If you go to office hours expecting to get answers without trying to understand it yourself first then he won't help much - he wants you to learn yourself first and use him when you can't do it alone.

Walters is the worst ever. i would give him a 0 if i could. He's rude and condescending and expects you to know everything before it's even taught. if you go to his office hours and ask for help, he'll give you feedback and then take points off for those same questions you asked. he's a harsh grader and i would definitely avoid if you can.

Unless you want to spend every lab getting chronic headaches, please do not take this course. The students taking Chem 132 are generally hard workers and relatively smart, but he is so condescending that he'll leave you feeling dumb. He grades so harshly - I have never spoken to a student in my lab who has gotten an A on the report. Save yourself.

Avoid taking his class for 132L. He grades really harshly and doesn't explain why. He tells you to figure stuff out on your own and gives you no resources for it. He also doesn't have office hours so you have to set up an appointment to talk to him.

Walters is a different person inside the classroom where he is very condescending. Outside the classroom, he's easily accessible and will help you. To get a good grade office hours are mandatory.

He was very condescending. The labs itself should not have been that hard but he made them much harder. When you ask for help he mostly just tells you to figure it out. Never stays after class to help you. Some report due every class and is an insanely nit-picky grader. To get a good grade you must go to his non-existent office hours.

Dr Walters can be a tough guy to deal with. At first, I thought he was really mean and condescending. But, as I got to know him he got better. This class is way to much work for a one credit lab. Some sort of a lab report is due every week and you need to go see him in his office or you will do poorly; too bad he doesn't have office hours (sigh).

Dr. Walters was very helpful outside of class and was always easily accessible during office hours to look over reports or discussions for our groups! The lab final was difficult but they give out a helpful study guide so look over it! He can be a tough grader. It's tough to get an A but you get the grade you probably deserve.

Avoid if you can, nice guy outside of the classroom majority of the time but very condescending and intimidating in the classroom so tough skin is required. There are other 132L lab professors who are a lot better and overall a lot nicer in my opinion. His class is hard but its chemistry so it all depends on who you get as your professor.

Walters is extremely disrespectful and condescending during class. He makes lab much harder than it needs to be and takes deductions from your grade exponentially. Expect a lab report for every lab and you have to go to his office hours for his approval if you want an A or B. He also gives pop quizzes every class.

Walters is such a nice guy. I had him for Micro lab. He makes labs easy to understands and cares about his students. If you go to his office hours, he will look over your lab report and fix it before you hand it in, which is helpful. Expect A- on reports-he's very picky. Highly recommended.

Oh Walters... he is a tough grader on lab reports and super picky which got annoying. But he's a cool guy and you can go to office hours and he will help you a lot. You have to work in lab groups of 4 which is kind of hard but fine if the people are good. He's a good teacher but you really have to work for a good grade.

I really enjoyed Walters for lab. He grades a little harsh, but he's not unreasonable. He'll look over lab report drafts and give you advice on what to fix. He is very clear with lab instructions and what we're supposed to be doing. He's a really nice guy and I liked going to his class. I would definitely recommend him and would take him again!

Hard lab teacher, and extremely tough grader. Don't forget to cite your sources, or he'll take you to the honor council. Very harsh when grading. Loves the minus sign. Will look at a lab report before you turn it in, tell you what you need to fix, and you still won't get above 85 because of minute details. But you can definitely pass if you work.

I went into this course hating chemistry. Mr. Walters made material easier to comprehend. Even though he grades strictly, your lab reports will definitely improve. I definitely recommend him. :)

Prof. Walters is definitely known for his hard grading. But, he is SO helpful and pretty much lays everything right out for you if you just pay attention. He lectures before the lab each time but it made each lab report a lot easier because he explains everything. And the talks before lab actually helped my grade in chem lecture! He's great.

Don't take him. The way he grades is absurd. Hes one of those professors that waits by the door and slams it shut the second the class starts. I went to him for help a few times in office hours and was really rude and condescending. A lot of people typically do better in lab than in lecture and right now my lecture grade is better.
