Comment:
Thought Control in Contemporary Society is an absolutely fabulous class-thanks to Roberto! His lectures are awesome, and he facilitates student involvement in discussions. He assigns quite a bit of reading, and is the hardest tester I've experienced in the Anthro department. So make sure you do the reading and take quality notes!

First of all you will spend all semester wondering where your grade is at. For a class that emphasized technology, why not use canvas? He has a lot of assignments and then the group project was awful because he sticks you with some random people. His grading criteria isn't clear, and yet he over explains everything.

Second time taking Gonzalez. He is a great professor and this class is so insightful. There is tons of reading (5 books including Hw reading) but they are really interesting books. His midterm and final are based off readings and require a ton of mini essays. I swear it sounds harder than it is because you learn a lot. Plus, he has a soothing voice

Has you read 5 books and an additional 2 books of your choice for a 10+ page research paper. Though the reading is a bit heavy, he is incredibly nice and clear in his lectures and is truly passionate about the subject. I would take all of my classes from him if I could. Attendance is important because the lectures are different from the readings.

Prof. Gonzalez is a great professor. This is one of the classes where I definitely learned the most in. Be prepared though to read ALL the readings, he doesn't tell you exactly what is on the test. And make sure to attend ALL the classes or you'll miss out on very important information from his lectures. You have to work for your grade!

Dr. Gonzales is a very nice instructor and super enthusiastic about anthro. His lectures are quite interesting and discussion-based. The only downside is that he doesn't really talk about what's on the tests so they can be pretty difficult. Be sure to do all your HW and reading, super important in order to pass the class!

What a fascinating class. Dr. Gonzales is a man of letters. He teaches you to think critically. This class is what a real college class should be like!! Attendance is not mandatory, but some exam questions come from lectures, so make sure you attend class! Dr. Gonzales is really helpful, too. If you do not understand something, just talk to him.

DO. THE. READINGS. They're important and INTERESTING, even if you have to skim or read the summary, READ! Come to class or you'll miss important things Gonzales is an understanding and approachable professor. For this class, 2 assignments, a term paper, 1 midterm, 1 final. Also he has a melodic voice that's nice to listen to.

This class is not easy despite what people say. Does not give study guides on exams. Book is a compilation of other teacher's works and covers a variety of topics, making it nearly impossible to focus on what to study. He gives a group project which is graded fairly easy but his papers are graded very hard even though it is not an English class.

Very hard class. Professor is sweet but expects too much from his students. NO PPT slides and he talks too fast. Can't say don't take him but it all depends on your stress level. I will never take him again.

Nice guy. Got through the course w/o buying book with a final grade of an A. Can be blunt...any comments made by students during class were mostly ignored by him. I didn't bother with putting my input in when I saw that. Good teacher though. Very smart.

Amazing professor. Clear, concise, and wants you to really learn the material. Very organized during class sessions, if he forgets to mention something the day before, he will bring it up the next day to clarify. For a summer session his class went by QUICK but I learned so much. Book use is high. He sometimes ignores what people say though.
