Although a world renown prof, Dr. Collins generally makes the class material understandable. Because of his great knowledge, the classes can at times feel one sided. He does advocate his own views, but he is a leading expert in this field. He really wants students to learn and goes through great lengths to help you think or understand.

Dr. Collins is brilliant and he's able to dumb the subject matter down to the undergraduate level. He forces you to examine your own beliefs, without pushing his own on the students. Attendance is mandatory, and he assigns lots of reading. Beware his grading curve (need a 95 to get an A).

Don't take this class if you don't know anything about Philosophy. I took philosophy of science to fill a gen ed and it was the most confusing class I've ever taken. Collins is a really smart guy and he will work with you, but everything he says goes way over your head. He is super disorganized as well.

Collins made philosophy surprisingly interesting and understandable. Grade consists mostly of three exams, each of which you are allowed a one-sided cheat sheet for (except the final, where you get two sides). No textbook, just a few infrequent readings and two short books with corresponding quizzes, most of which are on Canvas.

Dr. Collins is a great professor. He's very helpful and clear. His class was difficult for subject matter, but he made it very accessible. Great feedback, helpful explanations, and helpful lectures. He's also very entertaining with his Dad Jokes and puns.

Professor Collins is A-MAZING! He's helpful on all levels despite the fact that some of his teachings are hard to understand. If you make him aware of the fact that you don't get the material he will 100% help you through it. He will stay late after class if necessary. Also, you can use a cheat sheet for all tests. Best philosophy teacher here.

Collins is brilliant. Asking questions during his lectures is very helpful for increasing clarity, especially with complex concepts. He cares about his students and will meet with you outside of class to help you. It's not difficult to pass his class, but if you want to learn a lot, you have to put in the effort to really understand.

While Collins can be a little boring and difficult to understand, he is the best professor Messiah has for college. The man is brillant and is internationally known for theories on proving God. Plus he allows you to make one side of a full sided paper a cheat sheet for all exams except one.

Dr. Collins is crazy but he is seriously awesome! He is the head of the Philosophy Department and he rightly deserves the position. He is very insightful, intelligent, and hilarious. The reason that I always go to class is because of his humor. He does a lot of examples to explain concepts which normally end up with him being very silly. Great prof

This professor is willing to help if you do not have a philosophy mind. He holds study groups out of class and brings in random items for illustrations about new topics.

This man is brilliant (and always cherrful)! PHIL 101 was possibly one of my favorite GenEds. exams are essay, but you always have the questions long before hand and in class review sessions. not much studying or reading, you go over everything in class.

He's a very smart guy, but sometimes he's a little over your head. He tries to break it down, but it doesn't always work. All in all he's amazing and I would say take him. It's a great experience!

Collins is stellar. If you can, take him for PHIL 101. He is a pure genius, but realizes that philosophy is hard and breaks everything down for you. Some days all he does is lecture but other days can be really fun and entertaining. Once I asked him about a debate he mentioned in class, and he told me, "Type my name in google and it should pop up."

Great Professor. He definitely knows what he's talking about and makes it easy to understand. Very fair and easy with his tests and quizzes. I dunno why people say he's boring, though. If you take Phil101 I definitely reccommend him as an enjoyable, informative, interesting professor. Even if it is just for a Gen-Ed class.
