Dr. M-B is awesome! I really enjoyed the class because I love Greek mythology, but the professor made it really interesting and he's really funny. There are six quizzes throughout the semester, and if you do the reading and use the study guides and the powerpoints, you'll be fine. He also has extra credit opportunities, and there's a project.

You'll understand the complex readings and EVERYTHING that's on the quiz if you go to class and pay attention to the *images* on the slides. If you're absent, he uploads the slides on BB, but you will miss crucial info that will be on the quiz and will suffer to understand the text yourself. However, if you ask him in class, he will gladly explain.

I absolutely loved this class. He clearly had a lot of knowledge in the field and made the class extremely interesting. You must keep up with the reading or you will fail the class. Although lecture is not mandatory I suggest attending. Grading is based on quizzes every other week about the readings and a final. Easy A if you pay attention

Fantastic professor. Very knowledgeable and an interesting speaker. If you appreciate the classics and myth, you will like his class. He is very good at making the plays seem relevant. You will learn a lot about Athenian Society and theater.

This professor did not communicate with the class at all. He was not helpful. The quizzes were not consistent with the information in the book, there was no lectures, he included random images in the exams that you were supposed to know who painted them. Awful class. I'm an A student and I received a C+.

Dr. Mitchell-Boyask was great! I had him for Greek Mythology and while it was definitely tough to get the stories straight, I definitely learned a lot. He's good about making all the intricacies of mythology clear and concise. You'll have to study, but you'll know which gods were on who's side in the Trojan war by the time you're done!

He's a decent teacher. His policies are a bit strict, but he does a good job conveying the information and there's a lot of reading but if you do it you'll ace the exams. I learned a lot from this course that I can use in future courses, so it was definitely worth it! And, there are five books, but they're all pretty cheap. Read and you'll succeed!

If I could take his mythology class again I would. I would pay to take his class again to be perfectly honest. He is usually a very mild mannered man and outside of the classroom he is very solitary, but you get him in front of a class and he becomes this dynamic personality and that really pushes you to impress him.

I had little interest in the classics before his class, but now I'm totally into it thanks to Prof. Mitchell-Boyask. Great teacher, crazy smart, good sense of humor, and fervently devoted to his field of study (in a fun, unapologetically nerdy way, which I found to be very cute). But be warned: you MUST do the reading to get by(usu. 2 hrs a week).

I took him first for the Classical Epic and liked him so much that I took Mythology after it. Very interesting, nice, really knows his stuff. I think the former was a far better class to have with him because it was a much smaller class with more interaction; take it if it's offered. You will like him for Mythology but love him for Classical Epic.

This course would become the foundation for other courses to come not at all related to greek drama.. philosophy, psych, religion..he is a wonderful professor, witty, and very passionate about the classics. which is why he wants to see so much come from his students. Say hi to him on campus too!!

Excellent professor. His classes are hard, but unlike other people who've posted here, I don't blame him for my own laziness. He's not out to bust anyone's balls; he just expects you to do more than show up.
