I definitely recommend this class for someone who has even the slightest interest in law. Prof. Halbert is very knowledgable and cares about her students. She will help you out if you need it and is very easy to talk to. If you read the cases and participate in class, you will probably do well. Be prepared to speak in class.

So. much. work. For a gen ed this was a ton of work but if you're interested in becoming a lawyer it is an awesome class you need to take. Professor Halbert really knows what she is talking about and will teach you a ton but be prepared to be called on in class, have homework due everyday, and have to participate in a few mock trials.

The mock trials for her class are fun and easy to get a good grade on but the papers are much harder. Do yourself a favor and just agree with her opinion, she seems to favor those papers. Really nice lady but an ehh teacher because she has never practiced law and that is evident

This lady is interesting. Show up, speak up, get to know her, make sure she remembers your name, and you will (most likely) do well. We got one exam, two papers, and two debates. Not bad.

At first I thought she was great, but over the time I realized that she didn't like me (just because). I participated in each lecture (was very passionate about projects and did great), attended all classes, did all the homework, in other words- did everything she asked us to do perfectly, and still got a B+. Wouldn't take her again.

This is not an easy class, you do have to work for it. Take advantage of extra credit opportunities and meet with her one on one and your grade will reflect the effort you put forth. Overall enjoyed class -- mock trials were really fun

Dr. Halbert's class is a very interesting Gen-Ed. You don't have any tests. You are graded on Judicial Opinions, Mock Trials, and Case Briefs. If you don't participate chances are she won't like you. In the beginning she 's a pretty tough grader because she doesn't tell you want she wants but once you get the hang of it the class is pretty fun.

Professor Halbert truly cares about her students and will go out of her way to help you. I learned a lot in this class and would absolutely take her again. It's a lot of work and she's a pretty tough grader, but if you put in the effort you'll get a good grade. She makes you work for it, but it's all worth it.

Doesn't clearly state what she wants out of an assignmentexam. Likes to tell you what it is she was looking for after she already handed it back to you. So you better learn how to read her mind. Gives you a grading rubric for an exam after you had already taken it. Very smart lady, but SHOULD NOT be a professor. No idea how to teach buss ethics.

I was looking forward to class, but it fell far below expectations, as it was less about immigration law as a whole (as describe in the catalog) and more about providing amnesty to illegal immigrants from Central America. Little attention was payed elsewhere. If you disagree with her, expect to get points off, with little explanation, if any.

It's an interesting class but def not worth it because of the incredible amounts of work you'll be given. Lots of readings. So much outside of class work. Very moody. She'll either be in a moderately good mood or in an extremely unpleasant mood. Can be condescending sometimes. Could've been a great course if a better professor taught it.

One of the best professors I've had at Temple. She took a boring class about government law and turned it into an interesting class with mock trials and debates, just great! I never thought I would have enjoyed this gen ed so much, definitely take it! Warning, she can be a tough grader but she gives great instructions and feedback.

You neeeeeed to do the reading she assigns!! It's not a lot, but I didn't do it and failed the quizzes and that's my own fault. Other assignments, though, are really easy, and she offers lots of opportunities for extra credit. Her tests and final are also pretty easy, and she's got a voice that's easy to listen to without falling asleep.

Had her for Hnrs. Immigration Law. Terrible experience. We did some cool projects but the grading is so subjective! On the written assignments (case briefs/legal memos) there is NO INSTRUCTION! So basically its sink or swim. An interesting class to take but the grading policies suck. Definitely not worth it if you're trying to graduate above a 3.0

Halbert is an awesome professor! She does a great job at initiating class participation, which is a must if you want to do well and enjoy a sometimes boring class. The debates were a lot of fun! Exam was in class and it was easy as long as you know the bare minimum. Mid-term was an in class quiz, open book. Great class. Great professor!

Excellent teacher! She really knows the material, and as long as you participate and read the assigned material carefully, you will do well. There are many opportunities for extra credit, so if your writing is not strong, be sure to take advantage of this! Sometimes not clear about what she wants on assignments, so be sure to ask her if unclear!

There are no exams (except for the occasional pop quiz which is hinted at the class before) but many short writing assignments. The class is primarily discussion-based, so it keeps you interested. Halbert is a tough grader, but there are MANY extra credit opportunities offered. Overall, she is super nice and a truly genuine person. Would recommend.

Mock trials were awesome!! Nice lady, good teacher. She does not ask for any more than any other professor. Do what you need to do and you will get an A. She gives you the grade that YOU deserve.
