I never write reviews, but Robin made it a need. She is so anal about grammar and spelling etc... I had a A+ paper that she turned to a C+ because she believed it was not that good. It is like she wants people to fail. She would argue with you on discussions posts, and sees things her way. She acts like everyone is below her since she has a pHd.

I don't know how to word this nicely, Ostow is a major grammar Nazi. You can write an exceptional paper, but if you don't write it to Ostow grammar expectation your mark can go from a A+ to a C+ in a heart beat.

Even though I took this course online it's really clear Dr. Ostow is very passionate about sociology/social inequality (the course I took). Very helpful and quick responses whenever I emailed her. Funny in her own way too. Not a hard class if you are really interested in this topic!! Only a couple papers required. 10/10 would take ostow again

Throughout my entire post-secondary career I have never been witness to a more condescending and entitled professor. Although the course work is not immensely difficult, I think Dr Ostow and her students would equally benefit from her remembering she is not Her Majesty the Queen.

Taking online course with Ostow is very degrading to the participants. She asks to be addressed in a specific manner but will not indicate how. In a email yells at you in capital letters, which we all know is not correct in the business world. Then in the mail states she will not answer the questions unless she is addressed in a specific manner

Professor Ostow is a very good professor in the sense that she gives her students exceptionally clear expectations and instructions. She is a terrible professor in regards to feedback; anything but supportive and very discouraging. Beware: she will rip you apart if you call her anything but Professor or Dr. Intolerably condescending and entitled.

I Would not recommend a class with Dr Ostow for visual learners like myself Lectures by speaking at the class Rude criticism to students without positive feedback forget constructive criticism she will only point out what you did wrong in a paper without direction for the future I do not recommend Her and Iwill not be taking her classes again

Ostow is a great professor. She is knowledgeable, she engages students in class discussion, she is helpful with course material and assignments, and very clear about her expectations. Her lectures clarify the reading material so attending class is beneficial. However, if you're not interested in the course content, do not take the course.

Dr. Ostow is a great prof if you enjoy her quirky style. To get a good mark- attend class and take notes. Other then a book she'll assign, it's not mandatory to read everything she assigns to get a good mark as long as you've shown up to class and understand what she's saying.

Best class I've ever taken. Ostow knows so much and has lots of interesting stories that make the material even more interesting and accessible. Really passionate and interesting prof. She's very helpful and understanding when you have trouble with material or assignments. I hope I get to take another class with her!
